Intel launches palm-sized computer for schools

MANILA -- Intel Philippines on Friday launched its Next Unit of Computing (NUC) kit intended for homes, small-medium enterprises and schools.

The NUC has two components: the classroom content distribution; and the classroom management software system.

The content distribution appliance is an educational content portal with content, standard through any web browser. It provides Internet and networking, wi-fi for local access and synchronization of content in cloud, local storage and network drivers.

The machine is powered by an Intel Celeron processor with 4 gigabits of memory. It can provide high definition graphics of up to 756 MHz. The unit also includes classroom content cloud software, router, configuration and installation service and one-day training.

The classroom management software system is composed of a 10-inch study book tablet personal computer that provides infrastructure for e-learning, collaboration, facilitation and management. It has a lab camera that allows students a natural science exploration app with a built-in camera. For network protection, it is equipped with McAfee mobile security that covers five years of anti-virus protection.

The tablet has an Atom processor and 1-gigabit memory.

Felta Multi Media Inc. is the educational solution provider of Intel for the two products.
