At least 28 killed in car bomb attack in Turkish capital


At least 28 people were killed in an explosion in the Turkish capital, Ankara Wednesday in what appeared to have been a car bomb attack on a vehicle carrying military personnel.

Turkish officials have received reports that up to 60 people were wounded in the incident.

The city's governor said the explosion happened close to parliament, government buildings and Turkey's military headquarters.

A Turkish government spokesman also said security forces carried out a controlled explosion of a suspect package after the Ankara blast.

On Twitter, the spokesperson for the ruling AK party said they consider the blast an act of terrorism.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has postponed his planned trip to Brussels on account of the explosion.
