Another Westbrook triple double, another win for the Thunder

MANILA, Philippines — Much has been said about Russell Westbrook being a triple-double machine this season.

At the end of the day, though, all the Oklahoma City all-star guard cares about is getting a W.

Westbrook notched 27 points, 18 rebounds and 14 assists to lead the Thunder past the New York Knicks 112-103 on Monday (Tuesday, Manila time).

It was Westbrook's third straight triple-double, with Monday's numbers boosting his season average to 30.9 points, 11.3 assists and 10.3 rebounds.

No player since Oscar Robertson in 1961-62 has averaged a triple-double for a season.

"I know everybody is focused on that right now and rightfully so. It's historic what he's doing. But he's really a complete point guard all the way around," Thunder coach Billy Donovan told the Associated Press.

Thanks in large part to Westbrook, the Thunder (11-8) have now won three straight after having lost the previous three.

The Knicks (8-9) were led by Derrick Rose's 30 points.

"My job is to make sure we go out and find the best way to win games," Westbrook said, "and right now we've won three straight and that's the most important part for me."

In Minneapolis, Gordon Hayward and George Hill scored 24 points apiece, and Rudy Gobert finished with 16 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks as the Utah Jazz downed the Minnesota Timberwolves 112-103.

In Memphis, Kemba Walker scored 21 points and Jeremy Lamb equaled his teammate's scoring output off the bench to help the Charlotte Hornets rout the Grizzlies 104-85.

In Miami, Isaiah Thomas finished with 25 points to lead six Boston teammates in double figures as the Celtics defeated the Heat, 112-104.

In Toronto, Kyle Lowry scored 24 points and was a perfect 6 of 6 from behind the arc as the Raptors crushed the Philadelphia 76ers 122-95.

In Washington, Bradley Beal continued his recent hot streak scoring 31 points on 7 of 13 shooting from three-point territory as the Wizards withstood a 36-point, 20-rebound effort by DeMarcus Cousins to beat the Sacramento Kings, 101-95.
