American band LANY all set for Manila shows

MANILA - Members of the American band LANY are in the Philippines to perform exclusively at Ayala Malls this weekend.

LANY, composed of Paul Klein (vocals), Les Priest (keyboards and guitars), and Jake Goss (drums), were formally introduced to the Philippine media, giving candid answers to questions about their music, life on the road, and their time in the Philippines.

They even gamely uttered the translation of their lyrics, “I love you so bad,” in Filipino.

The dream pop band from Los Angeles, California gave a standout performance during the recent Wanderland Festival.

And with the launch of their self-titled debut album, they return to the Philippines to perform hits like the romantic "ILYSB," and their current single, the highly boppable Ryan Tedder-assisted track, "Super Far," among others.

"We weren't headlining at the Festival, but it kind of felt like it, a little? There was quite a few festivals where nobody was there for us. So to come out and play, and then to go out there, and for everyone to know the words to that first stanza [was great],” said Klein of their Wanderland Festival experience.

LANY's song upload in Soundcloud organically grew their fanbase
around the world. After 5 EPs, they released a fully-loaded album with 16 tracks.

"Our debut album is kind of the foundation of 15 months of songwriting, on and off the road. It wasn't just a collection of our EPs," Klein shared.

LANY's highly successful Asian tour is in support of their album. After Bangkok and Manila, they will hold shows in Hong Kong and Singapore.

For the Manila leg, the band will perform 45-minute sets at Glorietta (7 p.m.) on August 4, at Greenbelt (3 p.m.) and Alabang Town Center (7 p.m.) on August 5, and at Market Market (3 p.m.) and Trinoma (7 p.m.) on August 6.

"We want to be a band that reaches everyone, in every corner and crevice in the world," said Klein on his definition of success.
