LOOK: Filipino artist makes Trump action figure out of old 'tsinelas'

A Filipino toymaker is hard at work carving an action figure resembling the U.S. President out of old and factory reject flip flops ahead of Donald Trump's visit to the Philippines for a regional summit.

Toy artist Elmer Padilla, 30, known for his collection of flip flop superheroes and pop culture characters, made a special edition action figure of the American leader to welcome him to the country, and urge the youth to find ways to recycle trash through creativity.

Padilla shot to fame after Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo, who played the Marvel superhero The Incredible Hulk, posted the toy artist's rendition of his movie role in a viral Facebook post in October.

The Filipino artist's creations are made from old flip flops or factory rejects which are donated to him by prospective clients or slipper manufacturers. Padilla's works cost $25, although he said he would not sell his Trump action figure as he hopes to find a way to send it to the president.

Trump will arrive in the Philippines November 12 and will meet Philippine counterpart Rodrigo Duterte on November 13.
