Honor eyes top 3 standing in PH, plans physical stores
MANILA - Chinese smartphone maker Honor said it planned to open brick and mortar stores in the Philippines to become one of the top 3 vendors in the country.
Honor launched in the country on Wednesday, initially offering its flagship Honor 10 and other devices through online retailers.
The sub-brand of Huawei accounts for 10 percent market share in China after just 4 years, said its country director for the Philippines Wang Yang.
"We believe that the Philippine market is the perfect market for Honor brand because we see Honor is for the young," Yang said.
"If you ask me if I believe that 5 years later Honor can become the top 3 brand, my answer definitely would be yes. I have a strong belief in that, he said.
Physical retail stores will open as early as next month, starting in the capital, with the possibility of opening regional outlets, he said.
Honor first entered the Philippines through Shopee last May 15 where 500 units were sold in an hour during a flash sale. This response “makes me confident that the coming product will be more welcomed by this market,” he said.
Its flagship Honor 10 sports artificial intelligence-enhanced cameras, dual 24 + 16 megapixel lenses on the rear and 24 megapixels on the front.
The in-house Kirin 970 processor helps the phone recognize some 500 scenarios in 22 categories.
The Honor 10 has 4 gigabytes of RAM, 128 gigabytes of storage and a 3,400 mAh batttery that can recharge 50 percent of power in 25 minutes.
Yang said the handset's biggest draw would be its iridescent paint job inspired by the Northern Lights.
The fingerprint sensor is practically hidden on the phone's chin, below the 5.84 inch full HD screen.
The Honor 10 is priced at P23,990 and will be available online and in stores starting June 6.
