NEW YORK -- Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch, who helped the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl crown, will not not return to action next season, ESPN and the NFL Network reported Wednesday.
Both reports, citing unspecified sources, said the 33-year-old running back will call it quits on the NFL for the final time, having retired and missed the 2016 season before making a comeback the past two years with his hometown Raiders.
The Raiders plan to move on without the self-styled "Beast Mode" and are looking at top prospects at running back in the NFL Draft that begins Thursday.
Lynch spent three seasons with Buffalo being being traded to Seattle during the 2010 campaign and completing that campaign plus five more with the Seahawks.
He helped the Seahawks to a 43-8 romp over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in February 2014.
Lynch played 15 games for Oakland in 2017, running for 891 yards and seven touchdowns, but appeared in only six games last year before a groin injury last October ended his season.
For his career, Lynch carried 2,441 times for 10,379 rushing yards and 84 touchdowns while catching 287 passes for 2,214 yards and nine touchdowns.
