Will Instagram soon hide likes, video views?
Photo-sharing app Instagram announced early Thursday (Manila time) they are conducting a major test, which will hide the number of likes and video views from its users.
The Facebook-owned social media app wrote on Twitter they are running the test on its users from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Japan and New Zealand. The test does not include the Philippines.
"We want your friends to focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes they get. You can still see your own likes by tapping on the list of people who've liked it, but your friends will not be able to see how many likes your post has received," Instagram said.
Instagram said they're still looking forward to "learning how this change might benefit everyone's experience" on the site.
Many personalities have used Instagram likes for clout and influence. No further announcements were made if this will roll out to other countries.
