The local showbiz scene may be filled to the brim with teenage heartthrobs, but that hasn't stopped some from nominating a few new faces to fawn over.

Leading the ballot is 15-year-old Andres, one-half of Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzales' twins. It's rare for the famous parents to post photos of their son, but when they do girls just can't get enough of the genetically blessed teen.

Niel Murillo is first 'Pinoy Boyband Superstar' winner

MANILA — Niel Murillo, a 17-year-old boy from Cebu, is the first winner of "Pinoy Boyband Superstar," the talent show announced Saturday night.

Murillo received the highest combined scores culled from the judges' ratings and the number of text votes, beating out six other finalists of the talent show.

He will take home the P1-million cash prize and be part of a boyband managed by Star Magic.

Four more winners, each of which will also receive P1 million and a contract with the ABS-CBN talent agency, will be announced on Sunday to complete the group.

For his finals performance, Murillo sang Major Lazer's "Cold Water" with Russel Reyes.

Judge Aga Muhlach praised Murillo for his vastly improved confidence, while singer Yeng Constatino reiterated that he is one of the strongest singers in the competition.

The other grand finals performances were Joao Constancia, Mark Oblea and Ford Valencia singing Enrique Iglesias' "Bailamos," and Tony Labrusca and Tristan Ramirez covering Bruno Mars' "Treasure."

Voting to determine the remaining four winners will resume tomorrow night.

Lea waiting for Aga to lose weight for reunion movie

MANILA – It seems that the fans of Lea Salonga and Aga Muhlach would have to wait a few more months before they could finally see the two together again on the big screen.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Salonga said she is just waiting for Muhlach to lose some more weight before they start working on their reunion project.

“He needs to lose 20 more pounds. I’m looking good in skinny jeans now. I’m doing my share and my trainer is really motivated. He’s like, ‘Go sige pa. We have a project to make you look amazing by the summer.’ We’ll see. [Si Aga] na lang,” she said.

Back in July, Salonga revealed that there have been talks about a possible reunion movie for the two of them.

She, however, said both of them have decided to look “physically ready” first before jumping into the project.

“The ball is in his court, it is always in his court. Let’s see how much more he can go. Napapansin na parang medyo he’s losing weight na so let’s hope for some more,” Salonga said.

Reiterating that Muhlach is her favorite leading man, the acclaimed singer said: “Not Piolo, not Sam, not John Lloyd, not anybody. Sorry, it’s really him. When he looks his best, he’s untouchable.”

Muhlach and Salonga starred in two movies in the 1990s -- "Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal" and "Sana Maulit Muli."

In a previous interview, Salonga said she only wants to be paired with Muhlach because she is already comfortable working with the actor.

“Minsan lang kasi ako gumawa ng pelikula. As in once every 17 years. I don’t do movies very often so I want to be with people that I’m already comfortable with. There are certain risks that I’d like take when I perform live. But when I do a film, I’d like to stay with a team na nakasanayan ko na,” she said.

The Tony Award-winner also noted that she and Muhlach have a certain chemistry, which makes their working environment light.

Why Luigi Muhlach decided to become a chef

MANILA – The only son of actor Aga Muhlach and actress Janice de Belen said he does not want to live in the shadows of his famous parents. Thus he is trying to make a name for himself in a different industry.

Speaking to ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Luigi Muhlach said he is now into cooking, which is his true passion.

“Buong pamilya ko lahat sila artista. Ako I wanted to do something for myself naman na iba naman. Since hilig ko naman ang pagluluto din, ito na ang pinasok ko,” he said.

Luigi said he got his passion for cooking from his mom and are even planning to put up a catering business in the near future.

“Plano naming soon magpa-partner kami ng mom ko. We’re going to put up a catering business. Right now I’m having fun. Passion ko kumain,” he said.

Luigi is currently the featured chef of a popular hotel chain in Metro Manila.

Aga’s loss in CamSur

Meanwhile, Luigi said he does not feel bad anymore that his father lost in his congressional bid in the 4th district of Camarines Sur.

Luigi said what’s important is no one from their family was harmed during the campaign and the election period.

“For us, okay lang. Thy will be done. Whatever happens, okay lang kami. Masaya kami, okay kami na walang nasaktan sa amin, walang gulong nangyari. Kung talo man ang tatay ko or panalo, susuportahan ko naman siya kung ano man ang mangyari. Marami pa namang panahon,” he said.

Aksed if his father still has plans to vie for a public post in the future, Luigi said: “I don’t know about that. Hindi ko alam kung may plano pa siya tumakbo.”

“Ngayon wala pang ibang plano. Just go with the flow kung ano man ang mangyari. Ang importante okay kami,” he added.

Why Janice won't campaign for Aga

MANILA, Philippines -- Janice de Belen is firm on keeping her distance from the political aspirations of her former partner, actor Aga Muhlach.


According to de Belen, she and Muhlach have spoken on the possibility of her taking part in his political campaign. The "Oki Doki Doc" star is set to run for a seat in Congress in the upcoming 2013 midterm elections, representing the fourth district of Camarines Sur.

"Pinag-usapan na namin 'yan. Hindi kasi ako pwede mag-campaign eh, because of religion, we're not allowed to campaign," de Belen told reporters on Monday night, when asked if she is willing to campaign for Muhlach.

De Belen is a member of the Iglesia ni Cristo.

The Kapamilya actress and Muhlach became sweethearts during their teens, when they co-starred in a number of films, including "Super Wan-Tu-Tri" (1985).

Although she has a child with Muhlach, de Belen went on to marry actor John Estrada. They have since separated.

Muhlach, meanwhile, married former beauty queen Charlene Gonzales.

Gonzales, one of the hosts of ABS-CBN's entertainment talk show "The Buzz," has been vocal of her support for Muhlach in his congressional bid.

Asked if she can render the same support for her former boyfriend, de Belen said: "I'm not from Bicol. Meron akong mga ninuno from Bicol. But I'm not from Bicol, I don't vote there. I vote here."

"But I wish him the best," the actress added.

While the "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" actress won't be campaigning for Muhlach, their son, according to de Belen, will be showing his full support for his father.

"Syempre anak niya 'yun eh," de Belen said, when ABS-CBN News noted that Luigi will take part in Muhlach's political campaign. "Tatay niya 'yun. Dapat lang talaga ipag-campaign niya daddy niya."

Although she cannot formally endorse any fellow celebrities who are running in the 2013 polls, de Belen expressed confidence that an actor-turned-politican might end up becoming the country's best hope at progress.

"Sa lahat ng mga artista, you wish them the best. Because, malay mo, sila nga 'yung makakatulong sa ikagaganda ng bayan, why not," she said.

Will she be joining the political world anytime soon?

"Never ko naisip tumakbo. I think showbiz is enough, sa dami ng nagaganap. Sana magtuluy-tuloy, okay na ko dun," she said.

Aside from the primetime series "Ina, Kapatid, Anak," in which she stars, de Belen is set to topbill the 14th installment of the horror film anthology "Shake, Rattle & Roll." The Regal Films flick is an official entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Aga Muhlach files COC for congressional bid

MANILA, Philippines - Actor Aga Muhlach filed his certificate of candidacy on Friday as he seeks a congressional seat in the fourth district of Camarines Sur.

The actor, a member of President Benigno Aquino III's Liberal Party, was accompanied by his wife, "The Buzz" host Charlene Gonzales.

He was also supported by Camarines Sur Governor LRay Villafuerte and his son Migz.

"Wala naman na iba rito, this time lang 24 hours, ibibigay mo ang buong pagkatao mo at pagsisilbi talaga sa tao," said Muhlach, a former matinee idol.

In a previous interview, Muhlach said he vows not to tarnish the name he has built as an acclaimed actor and a public figure.
