Screen superheroes lead tributes to Stan Lee

LOS ANGELES - Comic book superhero creator Stan Lee, who died on Monday, got a superstar send off from Hollywood, where he was celebrated for creations like Spider-Man, Black Panther and the Hulk that made the careers of actors and directors alike.

Following is a list of reactions on social media and by statement:

"I owe it all to you," "Iron Man" actor Robert Downey Jr.

"No one has had more of an impact on my career and everything we do at Marvel Studios than Stan Lee. Stan leaves an extraordinary legacy that will outlive us all," Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios.

"Damn... RIP Stan. Thanks for everything," "Deadpool" actor Ryan Reynolds.

WATCH: Ryan Reynolds hopes to work with Filipino actors

 

MANILA, Philippines — Deadpool, the comic book character that Ryan Reynolds is portraying in the hit movie of the same name, can be described as crazy.

But what's the craziest thing the 39-year-old actor has done in real life?

"I don't know. Entering Hollywood was the craziest one," Reynolds told STAR entertainment editor Ricky Lo in an interview.


The "Deadpool" star further quipped: "Entering the job force in which 99 percent of your colleagues are out of work, it's a scary thing."

Reynolds said his parents told him he's "throwing his life away."


Luckily, he's proven them otherwise, most recently with the success of "Deadpool."

The actor added he hopes to work with a Filipino actor and would want the chance to visit the Philippines one day.

"There are so many (Filipino actors). I haven't had the opportunity yet. I hope to at some point," Reynolds said when asked by Lo if he has worked with a Pinoy actor. "Especially now in Hollywood, you're seeing so many big movies taking that into consideration."

Do you love sisig chimichangas?

In a promotional stunt in San Francisco held last Friday, actor Ryan Reynolds, the star of "Deadpool," was spotted handing out free sisig chimichangas from Señor Sisig.

In the Instagram account of the food truck's owner Gil Payumo, the 39-year-old Reynolds was seen giving away the Filipino fusion food with co-star TJ Miller, who plays Deadpool's arms dealer Weasel in the superhero flick.


Payumo, a Filipino-American whose father hails from Pampanga, co-founded Señor Sisig with friend Evan Kidera. According to their website, the sisig chimichanga is a "special twist" on the Philippines' sisig and their favorite Mexican taqueria dishes.

"Deadpool," which boasts an 82 percent rating on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes as of writing, is already showing in Philippines cinemas nationwide.
