NBA: Grizzlies extend home dominance by beating Bucks

De'Anthony Melton scored a season-high 24 points as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the visiting Milwaukee Bucks 127-102 on Saturday night to run their home winning streak to seven games.

The 6-foot-2 guard came off the bench and shot 8-of-11 from the field, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range, to lead the Grizzlies (52-23) to a split of their season series with Milwaukee.

Desmond Bane scored 20 points for the Grizzlies and Dillon Brooks chipped in 19.

Giannis Antetokounmpo paced the Bucks (46-28) with 30 points on 11-of-20 shooting to go with 11 rebounds and four blocks. Khris Middleton supplied 16 points, and reserve Bobby Portis chipped in seven points and 11 rebounds.

Milwaukee struggled with its ball security, committing 13 total turnovers. It also had its worst 3-point shooting performance (21.9 percent) from beyond the arc since Jan. 21.

The Grizzlies went into the break with a 59-46 lead after holding the Bucks to just 18 points in the second quarter. Bane and Melton led all scorers with 12 points apiece, and Brooks had 11.

Memphis dominated down low, scoring 26 points in the paint compared to Milwaukee's 16. The Grizzlies also cashed in at the free throw line, going a perfect 11-for-11 in the half.

Antetokounmpo had team highs of 10 points and nine rebounds in the first half, but he went just 3-for-11 from the field. Middleton had nine points, and the Bucks sunk just five of their 19 (26.3 percent) 3-point attempts in the half.

After trailing by 18, Milwaukee pulled within 13 with 7:02 remaining in the third. The comeback would be short-lived, though, as the Grizzlies later hit four 3-pointers within a two-minute span and led by 19 to start the fourth.

The Bucks got no closer than 15 in the fourth quarter.

In a high-scoring first quarter, Brooks went for 11 points and the Grizzlies closed the frame on a 12-5 run to capture an early four-point lead.

NBA: Short-handed Grizzlies down Nets despite Kyrie Irving's 43

Desmond Bane and De'Anthony Melton scored 23 points apiece for the host Memphis Grizzlies, who blew an 18-point lead before executing down the stretch in a 132-120 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.

The Nets fell despite getting 43 points from Kyrie Irving and 35 from Kevin Durant, and despite Memphis playing without Ja Morant, who sat out a second straight game due to a sore right knee.

The Grizzlies (50-23) reached 50 wins for the fifth time in franchise history and improved to 15-2 in games Morant has missed this season.

Bane and Melton each hit six 3-pointers as the Grizzlies went 19 of 38 from long distance. Bane made three of his treys during the decisive 18-2 run that turned a 107-105 deficit into a 123-109 lead with 5:20 left.

Dillon Brooks added 21 and Tyus Jones, filling in for Morant, contributed 16 points and 10 assists as the Grizzlies beat the Nets (38-35) for the sixth straight time.

Memphis' Brandon Clarke added 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter. Jaren Jackson Jr. chipped in 13 and Kyle Anderson finished with 10.

The Nets were held to 16 points in the fourth quarter, when Durant scored just two points. Brooklyn missed 10 of 17 shots and committed six turnovers in the final period.

Andre Drummond added 15 and Bruce Brown chipped in 13 for the Nets, who shot 49.4 percent but also allowed 27 points off 14 turnovers.

Melton, Brooks and Bane combined for 32 points as the Grizzlies built a 40-32 lead through the opening quarter. Brooks made it 63-45 with 5:57 left in the half, and the Grizzlies held a 76-62 lead at halftime after Anderson stole the ball from Durant and dunked with 4.6 seconds left.

Irving's four-point play brought Brooklyn within 90-87 at the 5:57 mark of the third quarter. The Nets took their first lead since the first quarter when Durant hit a pair at the line with 2:34 left in the third to make it 98-97.

Brooklyn took a 104-103 lead into the fourth after Durant connected with Brown for a layup with 2.4 seconds left.

Durant wound up contributing 11 rebounds and eight assists, and Irving also finished with eight assists.

NBA: Grizzlies set record in 97-90 win over Mavs

Desmond Bane scored a career-high 29 points as the visiting Memphis Grizzlies posted an NBA-record fourth straight wire-to-wire win Saturday, courtesy of a 97-90 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

Bane made 12 of 20 shots -- including 4 of 6 from 3-point range -- and added nine rebounds for the Grizzlies, who overcame a depleted lineup to extend their season-high winning streak to four games.

Memphis played without Ja Morant (left knee sprain), Brandon Clarke (right knee soreness), Kyle Anderson (back soreness), Ziaire Williams (left knee soreness) and Sam Merrill (left ankle sprain).

Tyus Jones scored 16 points, Jaren Jackson Jr. had 13, and Steven Adams collected 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Grizzlies. Memphis overcame 22 turnovers and a 14-for-24 performance at the free-throw line.

Dallas played without star Luka Doncic (left ankle soreness), Kristaps Porzingis (left knee contusion) and Willie Cauley-Stein (personal reasons) on Saturday. The Mavericks are 0-4 this season without Doncic, who averages team-best totals in points (25.4), assists (8.5) and rebounds (8.1).

Tim Hardaway Jr. sank five 3-pointers to highlight his 29-point performance for Dallas, which has lost seven of its last nine games overall.

Hardaway drained a 3-pointer to bring the Mavericks within five points with 1:45 left in the fourth quarter, however Jones answered with a floating jumper to effectively end the threat.

Memphis didn't miss a beat after erupting for a franchise-best point total and NBA-record 73-point margin of victory in 152-79 rout of the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday. The Grizzlies scored 13 of the game's first 15 points on Saturday, with Jackson sinking a pair of 3-pointers and Bane also connecting from beyond the arc during the surge.

Memphis scored the first seven points of the second quarter and 16 of the first 22 to secure a 38-24 lead.

Bane heated up toward the end of the second quarter, sinking a mid-range jumper and two 3-pointers to push the Grizzlies' advantage to 49-34 with 59.8 seconds to play.

De'Anthony Melton sank a 3-pointer to extend Memphis' lead to 69-52 with 3:15 left in the third quarter, however Trey Burke and Frank Ntilikina converted from beyond the arc on consecutive possessions.
