Meet Kermit's new girlfriend

A new piggy is in town, and this time her name is Denise.

After Muppets star characters Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy ended their relationship less than a month ago, both puppets have been given new love interests, according to People magazine.

"It appears the plush amphibian has already moved on," the magazine reported, saying that Kermit "has been spotted around town numerous times" with another pig, a pale redhead called Denise.

Miss Piggy doesn't seem to have a long-time replacement for her ex-flame, but Hollywood star Liam Hemsworth recently shared a photo with her captioned: "Spent Friday with the most beautiful girl in the world."

Miss Piggy and Kermit had been an item for years, with the pushy porcine diva typically lording it over the more reserved amphibian -- but the exact nature of their relationship status had been dubious before they split.

News of the breakup and new flames comes as ABC promotes their series "The Muppets", which premieres September 22.

WATCH: What did Hugh Jackman ask Gretchen Fullido

MANILA – Tables were turned and ABS-CBN entertainment reporter Gretchen Fullido got the shock of her life when Hollywood star Hugh Jackman asked her a question during their recent interview.

Fullido was talking to Jackman via Skype about his upcoming movie “Chappie” when the Hollywood actor asked her about her marital status.

“You’re in the Philippines right now, Gretchen? You’re in Manila? I have to ask you a question first. Can I ask you a question? I’m not going to say who but there’s a member of our cast who wants to know what your marital status is,” Jackman said.

The ABS-CBN entertainment reporter then replied: “I’m single.”

Responding to Fullido, Jackman said: “You’re single? Thank you very much. I’ll tell Sigourney. I’m kidding. It’s not Sigourney.”

Jackman was referring to Sigourney Weaver, who is also part of “Chappie.”

The upcoming science fiction film directed by Neill Blomkamp will be shown in Philippine cinemas starting Thursday, March 5.

Charice writes for CNN about Cory Monteith

MANILA – Charice paid tribute to Hollywood star Cory Monteith, who once was her fellow actor in the hit American musical series “Glee.”

Writing exclusively for the international news organization CNN, Charice recalled her brief moments with the late actor back in 2011 when she was guested on the TV show.

“I remember the last time I shot for ‘Glee,’ it was May 9, 2011. It was a long shooting day that swelled into the wee hours of the following morning. I was a tad emotional when the clock struck 12 midnight -- not because I was tired -- but because May 10 was my birthday. And I, a girl from the barrio of Gulod in the far-flung Philippines, was alone in America,” she wrote.

Being alone without her loved ones to celebrate her special day, Charice said Monteith became her family at that moment.

“Cory came to the rescue, just in time, with his sweet greeting: ‘Happy birthday, Charice!’ A big smile crossed his handsome face. There was sincerity in his tone as he gave me a tight hug. He became family to me at that moment,” she wrote.

“In the remaining hours of our shoot, Cory told me he had Googled me and found my date of my birth. Cool Cory's act of kindness. He told other members of the ‘Glee’ cast that it was my birthday and I was floored at how many of them greeted me with their warm birthday wishes,” the 21-year-old singer added.

Charice, who played the character of Sunshine Corazon on “Glee,” said her body felt cold when she learned about the sudden death of the actor.

“Too soon, too early, too young. I never thanked Cory enough for that one moment in time when he made me feel like family. I never thanked him enough for making me happy on that lonely day,” she wrote.

Despite the lingering sadness because of the actor’s demise, Charice is confident that Monteith is now in a better place.

“Many of my Filipino friends ask me what will happen to "Glee" now that Finn is gone. I have no answer to their query. But I lovingly ask them to pray for him -- for his peaceful passing. I am confident he's singing with the angels now. I am more than confident that his suave style, his cool attitude about everything will endear him more to his new-found winged friends in the afterlife,” she wrote.

While she has only known the actor for a short while, Charice said she will forever treasure her friendship with Monteith.

“To his fans around the world who mourn his passing, I am with you. I know how it feels. Let's hold each other's hand. Let's remember Cory and continue to celebrate his music, his craft, his life. He will forever be in our hearts,” she wrote.

“Thank you, Mr. Cool. My grateful heart will always miss you -- especially so on my birthday. Thank you,” she added.

Monteith was found dead on July 13 at the Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, Canada. Authorities said the 31-year-old “Glee” heartthrob died of an overdose of heroin and alcohol.

Angelina Jolie eyes early retirement

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie, a mother of six young children, says she plans to "give up the acting" when her kids become teenagers.

The "Salt," "Wanted," "Girl Interrupted" and "Lara Croft" star made the comments in an interview this week with Britain's Channel 4 News.

"I think I'm going to have to give up the acting as the kids hit the teenage years, anyway, too much to manage at home," the 37-year-old Oscar winner said.

"I have enjoyed being an actress," Jolie said. "I am so grateful to the job and I have had great experiences and I have even been able to tell stories and be a part of stories that mattered and I have done things for fun, but ... I will do some films and I am so fortunate to have the job, it's a really lucky profession to be a part of and I enjoy it. ... But if it went away tomorrow I would be very happy to be home with the children. I wake up in the morning as a mum and I turn on the news like everybody else and I see what's happening and I want to be part of the world in a positive way."

Cancer comedy '50/50' hits home for Anjelica Huston

LOS ANGELES - Oscar winning actress Angelica Huston has often played quirky roles in films like "The Addams Family" and "The Royal Tenenbaums." This weekend, the 60 year-old Hollywood star plays her most "normal" character to date in the cancer comedy "50/50."

The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a young man whose life changes drastically when he is diagnosed with cancer. Huston plays Diane, his overbearing mother.

Huston's own husband, sculptor Robert Graham Jr., died three years ago, and she talked to Reuters about that life-changing event and how it impacted her character in "50/50." She also revealed she's working on a memoir.

Q: It takes a minute or two to even recognize you in "50/50." What made you decide to wear a frosted wig?

A: "The way I look in life is a bit dramatic for what I wanted for her. Certain roles demand that you take a big step outside yourself. I wanted her to be a middle class woman living in Seattle who shops at the mall, wears blazers and probably would have played golf if she weren't having to go through this ordeal with a son who's sick and a husband who has Alzheimer's."

Q: Did you draw on your own experiences for the role?

A: "I lost my husband a year before I made this movie. So it came from a deeply personal place. I took everything -- all of my experience from the five months I spent with him in (intensive care) to day-to-day occurrences in the hospital -- which was kind of ludicrous at the same time as being heartbreaking. I think so much of what a caregiver does is to bring love and humor to a situation in which they have absolutely no power. That's what I was kind of channeling for Diane."

Q: Is that one of the reasons you accepted the role?

A: "It was coincidental. I don't think it hurt that I'd had the experience. Although, God, I prefer not to have had the experience, no question about that. I didn't accept the role because it was cathartic, I accepted it because it really touched me. I fell in love with this woman who is going through this horrible ordeal, whose presence was suffocating to her son. I understood it from quite a few points of view, from his point of view as well as my own, and the character's."

Q: Were there days on the film that hit too close to home?

A: "Yes. Not to talk about cancer when cancer is in the room is not to talk about the elephant in the room. To be able to talk about the elephant in the room was for me quite a relief at the time. At the same time that it's painful, it's also a wonderful way of exorcising demons and pulling in the demons to have a closer look at them."

Q: Switching gears. You're currently filming the upcoming TV drama "Smash" set in the world of Broadway. Is this your first time doing a TV series?

A: "I've guested a few times, but I've never done a series. I play a Broadway producer and I'm shooting in New York, so I'm out of my comfort home and ground, Los Angeles."

Q: What made you decide to take a series?

A: "Well, I'm a single woman now. I think work is very important for me right now. Something to do with my time, particularly since my life has changed so radically over the last couple of years. But it's good. It takes my mind off other things."

Q: In what way?

A: "The death of a parent is one thing. But the death of a chosen mate is very different because it's the life that you've chosen, not the life that was given to you. The surprise factor when it doesn't go your way is really life changing. You're never prepared for it. You're given hope until the last minute and that's part of what makes it shocking."

Q: You've lived quite a life. Any plans for a memoir?

A: "I started writing my memoirs last year, and I think the publisher is looking at (a publication date of) 2013. I've been asked to write it through the years and this seemed like a good time to do it."

Q: What can we expect to see in it?

A: "So far its memories, dreams, reflections. I'll see what shape it takes." - Reuters
