Marian embarrassed Juday got dragged into dispute

Kapuso actress admits getting hurt over allegations

MANILA -- Marian Rivera feels "embarrassed" that Judy Ann Santos' name has been dragged into a publicized misunderstanding between her and veteran film producer Lily Monteverde.

While she is relieved that the issue has been put to rest Thursday, after the camps involved aired their respective sides, Rivera said she regrets that Santos' name was brought up repeatedly in connection with an aborted film project.

Hiyang-hiya talaga ako," the 28-year-old actress said.

Monteverde, founder of Regal Films, had planned to submit a film co-starring Rivera and Santos as an official entry to the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival.

Monteverde on Wednesday brought up her disappointment that her film outfit was not able to join this year's edition of the film festival, saying her planned film entry couldn't push through because Rivera allegedly demanded to be the solo star in the film.

Following Monteverde's statement, Santos' manager Alfie Lorenzo said it was in fact his ward who passed up the project. The 35-year-old actress, according to Lorenzo, did not receive the script she had requested ahead of time.

Hurt

During Thursday's press conference for Rivera's Monteverde-produced film, the two were able to patch things up after the film producer offered to continue "working harmoniously."

Shortly after the event, where she hugged Monteverde, Rivera expressed her relief that the issue has been clarified.

"Masayang-masaya ako na naliwanagan 'yung side ko, kasi siyempre mahirap para sa akin, hindi ko alam kung saan magsisimula... [Nakahinga na ako] kasi mahirap din 'yung binabatikos nang hindi ka nakakasalita," she said.

The actress admitted, however, that she was hurt over the allegation and the criticisms she received for supposedly turning down a project with Santos, who is considered a veteran with over 25 years in showbiz.

"Na-hurt lang din ako kasi hindi ko nga alam kung paano ako magsisimula. Pero ang importante niyan, alam mo na ang nangyari sa akin, alam mo na naramdaman ko, ang importante ngayong araw na 'to, naging malinaw sa lahat ng tao, especially sa side nila Tito Alfie at side ni Ms. Judy Ann," Rivera said.

She also stressed that she never turned down any offer to co-star with Santos.

Asked if she cried over the allegation saying she did otherwise, Rivera said, "Naku, ayoko nang pag-usapan 'yang iyak-iyak na 'yan kasi pagod na pagod na talaga ako diyan, especially... ayoko nang pag-usapan. Ang importante maganda 'yung kinalabasan at alam ko 'yung mga taong sumuporta talaga sa akin."

Trillanes wants Richard Gomez to play him in biopic

MANILA, Philippines - Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said he wants actor Richard Gomez to portray him in a biopic.

Trillanes, who is running for re-election, made the statement in a press conference sponsored by Regal matriarch Lily Monteverde on Thursday afternoon.

If his biopic is ever made, Trillanes said he would love to have actress Dawn Zulueta to be Gomez's leading lady.

Gomez-Zulueta or CharDawn love team recently made a comeback after they worked together in the hit soap "Walang Hanggan."

According to Mother Lily, Regal Films will produce the Trillanes biopic when the right time comes.

In 2007, Monteverde also campaigned for Trillanes.

Regal matriarch Lily Monteverde has been urging Trillanes, who led the Oakwood mutiny in 2003, to join show business and become one of her so-called "Regal Babies." She said the senator is an "actor material."

Mother Lily undergoes lung operation

MANILA, Philippines – Regal Films matriarch Lily Monteverde underwent an operation on Thursday morning to remove an abnormal growth in her lungs.

According to entertainment website Pep.ph, Monteverde went under the knife around 7 a.m. Thursday at The Medical City in Pasig.

Prior to Monteverde’s operation, a Mass was held for her speedy recovery at the Imperial Palace Suites in Quezon City, which was attended by Monteverde’s friends in and out of showbiz.

In an interview with Pep.ph, Monteverde's daughter Meme said their family was really concerned after they learned that there’s a two-centimeter mass growth in her mother’s lungs.

Despite this, Meme said their entire family was able to hold on because Monteverde herself is handling the situation very well.

“She’s really a strong woman. She’s really amazing. So, kami, ako, I just let her be. Kung ayaw niyang magpahinga, I let her because I also don’t want to keep reminding her of her condition. In fact, kagabi, nag-e-exercise pa siya. I just let her,” she said.

“It’s a good thing naikuha ko na siya ng medical insurance two years ago. So it’s taken cared of. Hindi na kami ma-i-stress sa bagay na ’yon. And we can just all focus on taking care of her,” she added.

Meme said their family decided to just have Monteverde’s operation in the Philippines and they are all hoping for the best.

Meanwhile, Monteverde’s daughter Roselle thanked those who are continuously praying for their mother.

"We're so thankful to all our friends and relatives for their support and prayers. They stood by Mother during the time she was diagnosed. She felt so much love and care which made her really strong and hopeful,” Roselle said in a statement.

Roselle said they also appreciate the gesture of President Benigno Aquino III and Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas when they paid her mother a visit days ahead of her operation.

“Mother was so enlightened upon knowing of the President's visit. She couldn't believe it that a person so powerful will have time to visit her,” she said.
