Jonas Brothers reunite, will release first new music in years
NEW YORK - The Jonas Brothers are getting the band back together -- and will release their first single in 6 years, the heartthrob trio announced Thursday.
"We're baaaccckkkk..." the band tweeted.
The Grammy-nominated boy band is set to drop their new song "Sucker" Friday at midnight, their label said, after splitting nearly 6 years ago, citing a "deep rift in the band."
The brothers -- Joe, 29, Kevin, 31, and Nick, 26 -- teased their reunion in a "Carpool Karaoke" spot for The Late Late Show with James Corden.
"It's nice to be able to finally tell somebody," Nick said in a promo for the segment. "We've kept this a secret now for almost 7, 8 months. This is basically our first performance back."
"Sucker" will be the first release from the trio since June 2013's "First Time."
Releasing their first album in 2006, the brothers skyrocketed to global celebrity and found massive commercial success in part thanks to their appearances on the Disney Channel network.
The brothers, who hail from New Jersey, were from a devout Christian family, and in the early stages of their careers their wholesome image included wearing purity rings that promote chastity until marriage.
Following their band's break-up both Nick and Joe pursued other musical projects while Kevin appeared in reality television shows and founded a real estate company.
In December 2018, Nick wed Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra in a lavish ceremony dubbed India's "wedding of the year."

Hillary Clinton joins Bollywood stars as super-rich Indians wed
MUMBAI - The daughter of India's richest man got married on Wednesday in a traditional ceremony in Mumbai attended by Bollywood stars and former US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
The marriage brings together 2 of India's most influential families. The bride, Isha Ambani, 27, is the daughter of Mukesh Ambani, head of the vast Reliance conglomerate whose net worth Forbes put at $43 billion.
Her groom, Anand Piramal, 33, is heir to a real-estate and pharmaceutical business.
The wedding bash took place at Ambani's Mumbai residence, an extraordinary 27-storey structure known as one of the most expensive homes in the world. It was covered in red roses and decorated with lights and flowers for the occasion.
The groom and his family arrived in vintage cars as security guards onlookers and photographers from the narrow lane in south Mumbai that leads to the residence.
India's Filmfare magazine said 600 guests were expected at what media have dubbed the "the big, fat Indian wedding".
The festivities were a culmination of lavish pre-wedding celebrations in the desert city of Udaipur over the weekend, which featured a private concert by American singer Beyonce.
As well as Clinton, who according to Indian media reports has an association with the Ambanis that goes back more than 18 years, attendees included newly-weds actress Priyanka Chopra and singer Nick Jonas, former Indian finance minister P. Chidambaram, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, and Bollywood actor Aamir Khan.
Many in India, where millions of people live in dire poverty, have closely followed the wedding preparations, including the couple's engagement at a luxury hotel on Italy's Lake Como.

Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas celebrate wedding at New Delhi reception
NEW DELHI - Priyanka Chopra, star of Indian film and US television, and Jonas Brothers singer Nick Jonas celebrated their wedding at a glitzy reception in New Delhi on Tuesday, joined by celebrities ranging from India's prime minister to Hollywood stars.
The event at a New Delhi hotel followed the couple's 3-day long wedding celebration at a heritage Indian palace atop a hill in the western city of Jodhpur, which included cricket matches and Bollywood songs.
The guest list on Tuesday's reception included Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who posed for pictures standing next to Chopra, who wore a sequined Indian outfit, and Jonas, who was dressed in a blue-black tuxedo.
Chopra, 36, and 26-year-old Jonas were engaged earlier this year after a whirlwind courtship that began at an Oscars after-party last year.
Chopra, a former Miss World, starred in 3 seasons of ABC's "Quantico," becoming the first Indian to headline a US television drama. In India, she is one of Bollywood's highest paid film stars.
Nick and his brothers Kevin and Joe formed a pop-rock band, The Jonas Brothers, in 2005 and soared to fame as members of Disney's stable of teenage stars. The band split up in 2013.
During Tuesday's gathering, the couple were also joined by their families, as well as Jonas's brother Joe's fiancée, Sophie Turner, who stars in the critically acclaimed HBO series "Game of Thrones."
The couple had largely been tight-lipped about the details of the actual wedding that took place over the weekend. Earlier on Tuesday, Chopra posted a few pictures of her wedding celebrations on her Instagram account, saying: "And forever starts now..."

Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas marry in Indian royal palace: magazine
MUMBAI - "Quantico" actor and Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra married U.S singer Nick Jonas on Saturday in a Christian ceremony attended by close family and friends at one of India's most opulent royal palaces, People magazine reported.
The couple are due to have a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on Sunday and host a reception in New Delhi next week.
The bride, groom and other members of the wedding party wore outfits designed by Ralph Lauren, the design house said on its Twitter account.
The wedding was officiated by the groom's father, Paul Kevin Jonas, People said.
Chopra, 36, who headlined three seasons of the ABC crime drama "Quantico", is one of Bollywood's biggest female leads with acting credits in several big-ticket films.
Nick Jonas, 26, and his brothers Kevin and Joe formed a band, The Jonas Brothers, in 2005 and soared to fame as members of Disney's stable of teenage stars. The band split up in 2013.
Representatives for the couple were not reachable for comment. The venue of the wedding, the Umaid Bhavan Palace in the Indian city of Jodhpur, has been cordoned off to outsiders and no media were allowed near.
Local police on Saturday had to intervene after the couple's security men had an altercation with photographers who were trying to take pictures of the venue, a Reuters witness said.
The palace is the home of the Jodhpur royal family, but part of it has been converted into a hotel with peacocks roaming 26 acres of landscaped gardens.

Review: Nick Jonas strips in sexy thriller
We first saw some scenes of "Careful What You Wish For" back in December 2014 when it was featured in the hit Metro Manila Filmfest entry "English Only Please." I felt that was unusual how scenes of a foreign movie would be part of a scene in a local movie. Even if it did not really look that promising then, I checked it out when it was shown in cinemas this week.
Doug Martin is a local boy who gets attracted to Lena, the beautiful young woman who lived next door. Problem is she is married to a much older wealthy man who was shrouded in an aura of danger. Of course, his teenage hormones got the better of Doug when Lena encouraged his interest. But then, where there is an illicit affair, a violent payback will not be far behind.
This story has been told many times before -- a young guy is seduced by a sexy married woman. This type of film is usually told from the woman's point of view, like the recent Jennifer Lopez film "The Boy Next Door," though the point of view is reversed in this one.
It also brought back memories of "A Night in Heaven" and "Private Lessons" shown back in the early 1980s. IMDB lists down at least 40 films with this steamy plot, mostly trashy B-flicks. This just goes to show that films like this that deal with adolescent sexual temptation will always be there to appeal to the baser instincts of viewers.
Isabel Lucas seems too young to play the femme fatale Lena. She looks great to look at, a true seductress, that is, when she is not talking. When there are lines to deliver though, her limited acting skills show. It seems she has not really improved her craft since her similarly wooden big screen debut in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
Dermot Mulroney, an all-around good guy in most of his old films, plays against type as Lena's sinister husband. It was good to see Paul Sorvino as the local policeman. Too bad these two veteran actors were underused in their limited scenes.
This film is clearly a showcase for Nick Jonas to signal his foray into more mature film roles. Director Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, herself previously associated with teen-oriented films and TV shows like "Aquamarine" and "Gossip Girl," lovingly sets up her camera to capture her star Jonas in his best angles, in various stages of undress for his teenage girl fans (now old enough to watch R-rated films) to ogle at. To his credit, Jonas does register well on screen and he did do passably in the acting department.
Fresh from being slimed as emcee of the last Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, Jonas may find it hard to escape his teen idol image at first. Mark Wahlberg has proven that that curse could be overcome. As for Jonas though, that still remains to be seen. 4/10
