NBA: Thunder's Schroder, Felton handed 1-game suspensions

The scuffle between the Chicago Bulls and the Thunder on Monday led to larger repercussions for Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

The NBA announced one-game suspensions for Thunder guards Dennis Schroder and Raymond Felton in response to them leaving the bench area during the third-quarter fight that spilled into the stands.

League executive vice president of basketball operations Kiki VanDeWeghe also announced a $25,000 fine for Bulls center Robin Lopez and a $20,000 fine for Thunder forward Jerami Grant, both for escalating the altercation.

Bulls guard Kris Dunn was fined $15,000 for instigating the incident by shoving Thunder guard Russell Westbrook.

Schroder and Felton both were set to miss Oklahoma City's Wednesday night road game against the Sacramento Kings. The punishment will cost Schroder $182,353 and Felton $29,194.

Dunn, Lopez, Grant and Westbrook received technical fouls in the immediate aftermath of the melee. Lopez was ejected after a subsequent incident in which he was given a second technical foul.

Schroder, 25, is averaging 16.6 points, 4.7 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game this season. Felton, 34, has averages of 4.8 points, 1.8 assists and 1.5 rebounds.

Knicks' Felton faces gun possession charges: report

NEW YORK - New York Knicks guard Raymond Felton was in police custody Tuesday after turning himself in to police on weapons charges, according to multiple media reports.

Felton was charged with two felony criminal counts of firearm possession and a third misdemeanour gun charge.

ESPN reported Felton's wife, Ariane Raymondo-Felton, said he had threatened her with a firearm and brought the gun to police.

The New York Post said she has recently filed for divorce.

Felton, 29, turned himself in to police only hours after the Knicks lost to Dallas at Madison Square Garden in an NBA game.

New York City has strict gun possession laws and felony charges usually carry at least one year in prison for those convicted.

Plaxico Burress, a former New York Giants wide receiver, was sentenced to two years in prison in 2009 for a felony gun possession conviction after accidentally shooting himself in the leg at a nightclub in November 2008. He agreed to a plea deal and served 20 months in prison on lesser charges.

Felton is averaging 10.4 points a game for the Knicks, who at 21-36 rank 11th in the Eastern Conference, six games behind Atlanta for the last playoff position in the East.

Lakers reportedly have eyes for Raymond Felton, Michael Beasley

Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak said last week that the team would likely not make any major moves before the NBA’s March 15 trade deadline. Not a lot of people believe him, and since the Trail Blazers' Raymond Felton has fallen out of favor in Portland—and the Lakers need a point guard—Felton could be ripe for L.A.’s picking.

Longtime basketball writer Roland Lazenby, who has penned several books on the Lakers, reported via Twitter, “I hear they want both Felton and (Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael) Beasley. That's their goal. But talk is cheap right now. The source is good (though).”

The Lakers’ interest in Beasley has previously been reported, so...
