Summer idea: Easter pilgrimage to Tarlac

MANILA – Looking for something meaningful to do this April? Join an Easter pilgrimage to the Diocese of Tarlac on April 29, Saturday.

The pilgrimage by Green Faith Travels was “established for evangelization, ecology and heritage” and aims to create a community of pilgrims through spiritual journeys.

It will have participants pray at the following shrines and churches: Chapel of the Risen Christ in Monasterio de Tarlac in San Jose; San Sebastian Cathedral (Tarlac Cathedral) in Tarlac City; Diocesan Shrine of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus in Ramos; Diocesan Shrine of Saint Josemaria Escriva in Gerona; and either Our Lady of Ransom Parish Church in Tarlac City or Saint Catherine of Alexandria Parish in Gerona.

Pilgrims will have the opportunity to venerate the sacred relic of the True Cross of Jesus Christ in Monasterio de Tarlac, the only one of its kind in Asia and believed to be miraculous. The monastery of the Servants of the Risen Christ community also features a 30-foot statue of the Risen Christ.

A fee of P2,500 per person includes round-trip transport via air-conditioned tourist bus, breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon snacks, bottled water, juice packs and a pilgrim’s kit.

Summer idea: Relaxing weekend in Tagaytay

TAGAYTAY – Can’t stand the summer heat? A hotel in Tagaytay promises to help you cool down with a relaxing and fun staycation.

Located at the highest point of Tagaytay ridge, Summit Ridge lets guests experience the city’s cool breeze and breathtaking views without losing access to familiar conveniences such as supermarkets, food outlets, specialty stores and ATMs.

Each room has its own balcony that offers a view of the Taal Lake, which is easily one of Tagaytay’s most popular attractions.

Guests have the option of booking a suite, which comes with two bedrooms and a kitchen where they can whip up their own healthy meals and snacks. The chefs and staff at Summit Ridge can assist them upon request.

Summit Ridge is in the process of coming up with a new dining concept. For now, guests can have their meals at C2 restaurant, a result of the hotel’s tie-up with the Cravings group.

Here, food is always served buffet-style, with C2 offering unlimited coffee, tea, cakes, pastries and breads in the afternoon at P349 nett per person, letting guests sip a cup (or ten) of joe while enjoying the cool weather.

There is also the “dine and dip” promo for P499 nett, where visitors can partake in kare-kare and other Filipino dishes and use the swimming pool of Summit Ridge without checking in at the hotel.

On top of these, the hotel also occasionally holds Bingo games, Zumba classes and outdoor and indoor movie screenings for guests.

Summit Ridge is located at Km. 58 Aguinaldo Highway, Maharlika West, Tagaytay City. For more information about the hotel’s staycation offerings, call (02) 240-6888 or visit www.summithotels.ph.
