Jessica Sanchez nears deal to join cast of ‘Glee’

She has yet to launch her recording debut, but already the hits keep on coming for Jessica Sanchez.

After high-profile performances in the Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley fight and Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the “American Idol” Season 11 runner-up has been tapped to join the cast of the Fox hit show “Glee”, a report by tvline.com, confirmed by the Hollywood Reporter, said on Friday.

Representatives for Jessica are reportedly close to signing a deal with “Glee” producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk for the singer to appear midway through Season 4 of the musical comedy-drama series.

Details of her character are still under wraps, but the reports say “a multi-episode arc” is being written for the lissome 16-year-old known for her big soulful voice.

Jessica would be the latest high-profile addition to the show after Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson, who will both appear in multiple episodes.

She would also be the second Filipina to join the “Glee” cast. Charice played the recurring role of exchange student Sunshine Corazon during Season 2 but did not return for Season 3.

Jessica is currently preparing for the “American Idol” concert tour, which will kick off on July 7 in Detroit and head over to Manila on September 21.
