MANILA, Philippines -- A magnitude 5.3 quake shook Sarangani province and General Santos City Thursday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 4:14 p.m. with its epicenter located 157 kilometers southeast of Sarangani.
The quake was tectonic in origin with a depth of 87 kilometers.
It was felt at Intensity 1 in General Santos City.
Phivolcs said aftershocks were to be expected.
