To the shock of Top Rank head Bob Arum, Manny Pacquiao hasn’t decided yet on who to face next, leaving the Hall of Fame promoter almost fuming when asked about the status of the Filipino fighter’s eagerly-awaited return.
“I am also waiting to hear from him,” said Arum, who had actually visited Pacquiao early this month in General Santos City to know what’s on the boxer’s mind.
Arum has dangled three names – Timothy Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez and Miguel Cotto – for Pacquiao to choose from but as of yesterday, the 80-year-old Arum hasn’t heard anything from his top fighter.
Arum said that should Pacquiao break his silence and decide to end the waiting game, he will have no choice but to set it on December 1, since there is not enough time to hype it.
Pacquiao is said to be dilly-dallying because he is hoping that a mouth-watering fight can be arranged against Floyd Mayweather.
In case Pacquiao fights a tuneup against one of the guys mentioned, he puts himself at risk of losing a lucrative Mayweather showdown next year.
The past few weeks, Mayweather has been sounding off to just about everyone that he would like to meet Pacquiao, whom he has branded as an excellent fighter.
In the past, Mayweather had nothing but poison for Pacquiao.
