Fil-Ams pray for Connecticut shooting victims

Thousands of Filipinos from throughout Los Angeles County kicked off Simbang Gabi at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels Saturday night.

Despite the joys of celebrating Christmas the Filipino way, Filipinos are mindful of the tragedies people face back in the Philippines and in another part of the US.

Archbishop Jose Gomez led this year’s Simbang Gabi's homily by calling for people to pray for the victims of the Connecticut school shooting, and the recent typhoon in the Southern Philippines.

“We need to pray for those who were killed. We need to open our hearts and pray for support to their families and community," the Archbishop said. Balitang America, December 18, 2012
