MANILA, Philippines – A Filipina household service worker was arrested after her sponsor accused her of sexually abusing her children in Dubai.
The Gulf News reported that the OFW had been accused of having sex with the 8-year-old son of her sponsor. She was also accused of forcing the boy to have sex with his 12-year-old sister.
"There is such a report and it also appeared sa diario dito sa Dubai at yun nga, yung kababayan natin na isang kasambahay dito ay inakusahan ng kanyang sponsor ng rape doon sa mga anak niya na alaga ng kasambahay na ito," confirmed Philippine Consul General Frank Cimafranca.
Cimafranca told DZMM on Friday that an Assistant To Nationals (ATN) officer was able to visit the OFW who is currently in a detention center.
“Of course, itinatanggi niya yung akusasyon dahil kung isipin mo naman ay napakamurang edad yung mga bata---8 years old at yung isa 12 years old--parang di kapani-paniwala yung akusasyon,” Cimafranca said.
However, he added that the consulate could not do anything at this point as the case is still being investigated.
"Wala pa tayong masyadong magawa dahil the case is still under investigation at pag ang kaso ay under investigation ang patakaran dito sa bansang ito, sa UAE, ay hindi pwedeng makialam yung mga abugado at yung konsulado kasi iniimbistigahan pa ng pulis at ng prosecutorial office," he said.
The Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila had been informed of the case and is ready to provide legal assistance once the case against the Pinay is filed in court.
Based on their records, the Pinay was deployed to Dubai in May 2011. She ranaway from her sponsor four months later.
“May previous case itong katulong na ito na ikinomplain niya yung kanyang sponsor. Nag runaway last year, inayos ng agency at saka yung sponsor at voluntary din naman daw na bumalik doon sa sponsor itong kasambahay na ito,” he said.
The OFW's recruitment agency in Dubai has been suspended and is also a subject of their investigation.
