Daniel, Sarah nominated in World Music Awards
MANILA – Singers Daniel Padilla and Sarah Geronimo have been nominated in this year’s World Music Awards, which “honors the best-selling recording artists from every continent.”
Padilla, who is known for his hit song “Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat,” has been nominated as World’s Best Male Artist along with fellow Filipinos Christian Bautista and Jed Madela. They will be up against big recording artists like Justin Bieber, Psy and Elton John.
Geronimo, who also made it to the World Music Awards last year, is one of this year’s nominees for the World’s Best Female Artist Award, with Asia’s Songbird as her only Filipino competitor. Other nominees in this category include Adele, Miley Cyrus and Beyonce.
Padilla and Geronimo were also nominated as World’s Best Live Act and World’s Best Entertainer of the Year along with Madela and Velasquez.
According to its website, the World Music Awards “are presented on sales merit and voted by the public on the Internet.”
“There is no jury involved and the Awards truly reflect the most popular artists as they are determined by the actual fans that vote and buy the records,” it added.
Padilla’s debut album reached platinum-record status only three months after its release. The “Got to Believe” star launched his second album early this year.
Geronimo’s newest album, “Expressions,” has been another massive hit, following the success of her previous studio albums.
The singer-actress marks her tenth year as the Philippines’ “Pop Star Princess” with a series of concerts in November and December.
