In-N-Out pops into PH anew

MANILA – After two years, popular American burger chain In-N-Out once again opened a pop-up store in the Philippines on Tuesday.

Filipino restaurant Giligan’s Island in Greenbelt 1, Makati has been converted into an In-N-Out pop-up store so the brand can sell its products to the public from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7.

Limited quantities of In-N-Out’s specialties are available during the event, with customers required to get a bracelet tag from organizers to obtain one burger.

Many Filipinos lined up for hours when In-N-Out opened a pop-up store at the seafood restaurant Clawdaddy at Bonifacio High Street last March 2013. The event also saw celebrities such as actress Anne Curtis and her boyfriend, Erwan Heussaff, patiently waiting in line to get a taste of In-N-Out’s burgers.

Brian Nakao, In-N-Out’s manager for special foreign events, told ABS-CBNnews.com in an interview in 2013 that they served more than 200 burgers during the four-hour pop-up event.

Noting how Filipinos have patronized In-N-Out during their short stint in Manila, Nakao said he has included the Philippines in his “personal list” of target markets for the brand.

He stressed, however, that he does not have the power to make those kinds of decisions in their company.

In-N-Out is known for its “animal-style” burgers, which include pickles, extra spread, grilled onions and mustard fried onto each patty.

The burger chain also offers “protein-style” burgers, a low-carb option where the buns are replaced with large lettuce leaves.

Last year, In-N-Out-inspired chain CaliBurger opened in the Philippines.
