MANILA – Jaclyn Jose made history as the first Southeast Asian to win the Best Actress Award at Cannes.
She bagged the prestigious award for her role in the Brillante
Mendoza film “Ma’ Rosa,” which also stars her daughter, actress Andi
Eigenmann.
Jose now joins the ranks of some of the world’s most respected
actresses such as Meryl Streep ("A Cry in the Dark," 1989), Sophia Loren
("Two Women," 1961), Katharine Hepburn ("Long Day's Journey into
Night," 1962) and Helen Mirren ("Cal," 1984 and "The Madness of King
George," 1995).
