Lawsuit says Bobbi Kristina boyfriend gave her 'toxic cocktail'

LOS ANGELES, United States - A lawsuit filed Friday by an estate administrator for Bobbi Kristina Brown accuses her boyfriend of giving her a "toxic cocktail" and putting her face down in a bathtub before she went into a six-month coma and died.

The 22-year-old, the only child of pop legend Whitney Houston and singer Bobby Brown, died on July 26, after being found unconscious in a tub in her home in January, in an eerie repeat of her mother's death in 2012.

The complaint was originally filed on June 24 in Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia by a court-appointed administratrix, and an amended complaint was submitted Friday.

It accuses Brown's boyfriend at the time of her death, Nick Gordon, of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and stealing more than $11,000 from her after she went into a medically-induced coma, the lawsuit said.

The amended complaint also accuses him of wrongful death.

The document describes an argument that allegedly took place between Brown and Gordon after he came home in the early hours of January 31 after a night out, when her body was found in a bathtub.

The lawsuit said Gordon had been "out all-night on a cocaine and drinking binge" and that he came home and accused Brown of cheating on him during a "loud argument" that last about 30 minutes.

According to the complaint, Gordon then "gave Bobbi Kristina a toxic cocktail rendering her unconscious and then put her face down in a tub of cold water causing her to suffer brain damage."

A guest in the house allegedly found Brown in the bathtub, and according to the lawsuit she was "unresponsive, unconscious with a swollen mouth and a tooth hanging loosely from her mouth."

Gordon then came in and said "clean up, clean up" to the guests, who attempted to give her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, the document said.

"After almost six months of suffering, Bobbi Kristina died from" Gordon's actions, the lawsuit said.

Brown's death drew parallels to that of her mother, who was found face down in a bathtub in a Los Angeles hotel on February 11, 2012, on the eve of the Grammy Awards.

Her parents separated in 2006 and divorced in 2007, with Houston awarded custody of their daughter, amid claims of abuse and drug use in the high-profile relationship.

Bobbi Kristina Brown autopsy sheds little light on bathtub mystery

An initial autopsy on Bobbi Kristina Brown on Monday found no significant injuries and no obvious underlying cause of death for the daughter of the late singer Whitney Houston, who died on Sunday after sustaining irreversible brain damage in January.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office in Georgia said Brown, 22, had no previously unknown medical conditions that would have contributed to her death.

It also said it has issued subpoenas to help gather documentary information on her death, and would conduct additional tests that are expected to take several weeks.

Brown, the only child of Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown, died at an Atlanta-area hospice where her family had placed her a month ago after giving up hope she would recover. She died six months after an unexplained incident that left her unresponsive in a bathtub in her suburban Atlanta home.

"Krissy was and is an angel. I am completely numb at this time," Bobby Brown, in his first comments on his daughter's death, said in a statement issued by his lawyer.

"My family must find a way to live with her in spirit and honor her memory. Our loss is unimaginable. We thank everyone for the prayers for Krissy and our family as we mourn my baby girl," he added.

The Medical Examiner's office had said earlier that efforts to determine what happened to Brown in January would be "challenging" given the time gap between the bathtub incident and her death. She was found face down in the bathtub by her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, and a friend on Jan. 31.

A $10 million civil lawsuit filed last month by the court-appointed conservator for Brown accused Gordon of causing her "life-threatening injuries" and of stealing from her bank account while she was in a coma.

No one has been criminally charged in the case, which has been referred to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for further review.

Brown's death came three years after her Grammy-winning mother, who had battled substance abuse, drowned in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills hotel at age 48.

Entertainment news website Entertainment Tonight, citing an unnamed family source, reported on Monday that a funeral for Brown was expected in Atlanta this week. It said her body would then be taken to New Jersey to be buried alongside her mother in Westfield. Representatives of the family have released no details on funeral arrangements.

Bobbi Kristina Brown in hospice, placed in 'God's hands'

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only child of late singer Whitney Houston, has been moved to hospice care and placed "in God's hands," five months after being found unresponsive in a bathtub, her family said on Wednesday.

Bobbi Kristina, 22, was hospitalized on Jan. 31 after being found face down in a bathtub in her suburban Atlanta home.

Few details about her condition have been released officially but her grandmother, Cissy Houston, said in April that doctors had diagnosed "global and irreversible brain damage."

In a statement issued on Wednesday on behalf of the Houston family, Bobbi Kristina's aunt, Pat Houston, said that "despite the great medical care at numerous facilities, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s condition has continued to deteriorate. As of today, she has been moved into hospice care.

"We thank everyone for their support and prayers. She is in God's hands now."

Bobbi Kristina is the daughter of Whitney Houston and her former husband, R&B singer Bobby Brown. They divorced after a tempestuous, drug-fueled marriage that began when she was 14.

The circumstances of her accident have not been explained but it was eerily similar to the death of her Grammy award- winning mother, who drowned in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub in February 2012 at the age of 48. In that case, authorities said years of cocaine abuse and heart disease played a key role.

Bobbi Kristina, who inherited her mother's fortune, was found by her partner Nick Gordon and a friend. In the hospital, she was put in a medically induced coma to stop brain swelling. She was later taken off a ventilator, given a tracheotomy and moved to a rehabilitation center but she remained largely unresponsive, members of her family have said.

Before the accident, she was an aspiring singer who began performing with her famous mother as early as 1999, singing duets of "My Love is Your Love." In 2003, she recorded a duet of "Little Drummer Boy" for a holiday album.

She was hospitalized twice with anxiety after her mother's death and in 2012 she appeared on Lifetime's reality TV show, "The Houstons: On Our Own," which chronicled the family's struggle to recover.

Whitney Houston's daughter found unresponsive in tub

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only daughter of the late pop star Whitney Houston and singer Bobby Brown, was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Georgia home on Saturday, but she was revived and rushed to a hospital, police said.

The incident comes nearly three years after Houston, a superstar who battled substance abuse, drowned in a bathtub in Beverly Hills, California, in February 2012. Authorities determined cocaine use and heart disease contributed to her death.

Brown, 21, was found in the bathtub at her suburban Atlanta home by her husband and a friend, said Lisa Holland, public information officer for the Roswell Police Department.

Brown's husband, Nick Gordon, started CPR and police continued life-saving measures until an ambulance arrived and took her to the hospital.

Brown was taken to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, a suburb north of Atlanta, Holland told reporters. "She's alive at the hospital," Holland said.

She gave no other details and a hospital spokeswoman declined to comment.

Brown married Gordon in January 2014. Gordon was also raised for a time by Houston, one of the best-selling recording artists of all time, but she never formally adopted him. On Houston's birthday last year, Gordon had his arm tattooed with a portrait of the late singer.

Houston, a multiple Grammy Award winner who was known for her vocal power, clarity and mezzo-soprano range and whose dozens of hit songs include "How Will I Know" and "I Will Always Love You," was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston and a cousin of pop singer Dionne Warwick.

Bobbi Kristina Brown's father, Bobby Brown, is a Grammy Award winner who started his career as frontman for the R&B group New Edition.

Both of Bobbi Kristina's parents struggled with substance abuse, and Houston described their 15-year marriage, which ended in 2007, as drug- and alcohol-fueled. Bobby Brown was sentenced to 55 days in jail in 2013 after admitting to driving drunk in 2012.

She and her grandmother, Cissy Houston, and other relatives starred in a 14-episode reality show for cable channel Lifetime, "The Houstons: On Our Own," about their struggle to cope after Houston's death.

Brown's Twitter feed over the past year included motivations to work out, quotes from celebrities on being true to oneself, loving messages for her husband and remembrances of her mother.
