WATCH: Tearful Ali, Cristine Reyes exchange wedding vows

MANILA - Mixed martial arts fighter Ali Khatibi was nearly in tears as he exchanged wedding vows with Kapamilya actress Cristine Reyes, as seen in their wedding film released by Nice Print Photography on Thursday.

Reyes and Khatibi, who have a baby daughter named Amarah, got married on Wednesday in an intimate wedding ceremony attended by their close friends and family in Balesin Island.

Khatibi, who got engaged to Reyes seven months after the actress gave birth, is seen in the video crying as Reyes walked down the aisle. The "Tubig at Langis" star, likewise, turned emotional as she thanked Khatibi for showing her the true meaning of love.

For his part, Khatibi vowed to help Reyes achieve her dreams. "I want you to never stop dreaming. Because this is one of the things I love and admire about you," he said.

"As your husband, together we shall reach for the stars and make them come true. I promise to be your faithful lover, to work hard and fulfill our needs, and lastly, to never forget this moment. For in this moment, my life ends and ours begin. I love you so much."

Reyes first met Khatibi back in 2005 but only began dating in 2013. In an interview on the now-defunct afternoon talk show "The Buzz" a year later, Reyes revealed that she was pregnant with Khatibi's child.

MANILA – Actress Cristine Reyes has totally let go of her sexy image as she makes her magazine debut as a real-life mother.

The former sexy star is seen holding her baby daughter, Amarah, on the latest cover of Smart Parenting magazine.

Amarah is her child with Ali Khatibi, a mixed martial arts fighter.

Referring to her first few months of motherhood, Reyes recalled in an interview with Smart Parenting: “I was scared, because I’m a first-time mom and my baby is a preemie.”

“Pakiramdam ko kailangan na kailangan ako ni Amarah at tutok na tutok ako dapat sa kanya. I was so worried if I could do it on my own,” she added.

Reyes, who started out as a reality show contestant, got her big break on ABS-CBN for taking on daring roles. She was once named by a men’s magazine as the sexiest woman in the country and went on to star in several box office hits.

This was only the second time the actress shared a photo of the baby, who was born prematurely. Reyes posted the first photo of Amarah five days after giving birth.

"She really is a fighter," Reyes wrote in the caption, which is also a reference to the baby's father, MMA fighter Ali Khatibi.

Reyes said the baby spent 10 days in the hospital, including six days in a neonatal intensive-care unit. Amarah was also on oxygen support for a day.

MMA fighter opens up on GF Cristine Reyes

MANILA, Philippines – The father of Cristine Reyes’ child is not only a model but a bona fide former mixed martial arts (MMA) champion.

Ali Khatibi used to be the featherweight champion of Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC), the local version of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

In an interview with Large on Sports, Khatibi admitted that he was overwhelmed by the attention he received after it was reported that he is the father of Reyes’ baby.

“I knew there was gonna be some buzz but I never expected it to be like this. It's overwhelming. Cristine obviously knows how to deal with this but me I'm still overwhelmed,” said the 31-year-old model who already appeared on the pages of Cosmopolitan Philippines.

He said he hopes to use his newfound popularity to promote the sport of MMA in the Philippines.

Although the sport has become popular through the UFC, MMA remains in its infancy stage here in the country.

“If I can bring more attention to local mixed martial arts, that would be perfect. It's still a growing sport here in the country even though it's been around for quite some time. I strongly encourage everyone out there to follow and support local MMA fighters,” said Khatibi.

As a fighter, he holds a record of 1-1. He has yet to return to the ring since he last fought in November 2013.

“[I’ll be returning] very, very soon. My only concern at the moment is ring rust but my team should be able to address that. I honestly feel this is the best time to fight. I've regained the hunger I lost when I slacked off before,” he said.

Khatibi opened up that he met Reyes through a common friend. The sexy actress told him she always wanted to study Jiu-Jitsu so he invited her over to the gym.

Their relationship blossomed after that.

Khatibi described Reyes as a very good student. “Truth be told, she is doing very well. She has a high level of skill right now that I actually feel she is ready for competition,” he said.

“But obviously, for now that has to wait, but after the baby comes, I know she will do well in tournaments.”

Ara Mina reacts to sister Cristine's pregnancy

MANILA – Ara Mina said she is very proud of her younger sister, actress Cristine Reyes, for taking responsibility after she learned that she will soon have a baby.

Reyes admitted that she is pregnant during her “ASAP” appearance on Sunday.

In an interview with “The Buzz,” which aired hours after Reyes's admission, Mina said she commends her sister because not all actresses are brave enough to announce to the public that they are pregnant.

“Proud ako sa kanya kasi hindi naman lahat umaamin and happy ako kasi matagal na niya kasi talaga itong gusto. Parang last year niya pa sinasabi sa akin. I’m excited for her also. Ang saya-saya, maraming babies ngayon sa family. It is a blessing,” she said.

Mina shared that her sister also experienced morning sickness.

“Nahihilo daw siya, nagsusuka minsan. 'Yung first trimester may mga morning sickness,” she said.

“Take care of yourself. Huwag ka magpapaka-stress para hindi ma-stress ang baby. Just call me anytime. Love you,” added.

Since her sister is in a delicate stage, Mina said she and the rest of their family will just support the 25-year-old actress in this “wonderful journey.”

“Alam mo naman na mahal na mahal kita. Nagkaaway na tayo, nagkabati na tayo per nandito pa rin ang ate mo. Kung saan ka masaya, masaya ako. I love you,” she said.

In a separate interview with “The Buzz,” Reyes said the pregnancy did not come as a surprise for her and her boyfriend because they actually planned it.

“Kaming dalawa ni Ali (her boyfriend) magkasama, nag-test kaming dalawa. We are happy kasi it was planned and it’s not a surprise. First test namin, morning 'yun. Akala namin negative pa so na-sad kami. Nung gabi nag-test ulit kami, positive na. After that, ang inuna namin 'yung family namin. They were happy and excited,” she said.

Reyes also said she and her partner are planning to tie the knot after she gives birth.

Cristine speaks up on sister Ara's miscarriage

MANILA – Cristine Reyes reported that her sister, actress Ara Mina, is doing fine following her miscarriage late last year.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News’ MJ Felipe, Reyes said the miscarriage occurred a few months ago and her sister has now accepted what happened.

“Actually 'yung news kay ate, matagal na 'yun. Kung tatanungin mo ako, okay na kami. Tapos na 'yung napagdaanan ni ate. Okay siya,” Reyes said.

Although Mina became depressed, Reyes said her sister is now “perfectly fine and busy siya sa business.”

“Na-depress siya for a while pero hind naman sobra,” she said. “I think ginagawa naman niya 'yung kailangan niyang gawin para alagaan ang sarili niya.”

In a statement sent to the Philippine Entertainment Portal, Mina said her miscarriage is something she and her partner, Bulacan, Bulacan Mayor Patrick Meneses, do not want to remember.

“It was so painful for me and Pat. Something that we just cannot vocally discuss in public, but we both owe the people the truth that’s why I’m making a statement about it,” she said.

Mina, however, is not losing hope that maybe one day, she will be given another chance to have her own child.

“In God’s time maybe another blessing will come in the future, but for now, we are still trying to move on, trying to forget the miscarriage. We hope that people would understand why we kept in private. Thank you,” she said.

Cristine opens up about split with Derek

Cristine clears Ynna Asistio's name

MANILA – For the first time, Cristine Reyes addressed questions pertaining to her month-long relationship with Derek Ramsay following the confirmation of their breakup early October.

Speaking to the entertainment media on Wednesday, Reyes said it is true that she and Ramsay have gone back to their status as best friends.

Asked how it happened, Reyes said: “Sa Hawaii nagkaroon kami ng bonding time tapos magkasama kami doon, hindi naman buong trip, pero after the show, nag-bonding na kami.”

“Masaya ako dahil back to normal kami kasi ganun naman talaga kami ni Derek. Ever since nagkatrabaho kami sa 'No Other Woman,' naging magkaibigan kami. Wala namang nagbago,” she added.

According to Reyes, she has no regrets over what happened because what’s more important is they have maintained their friendship even after their relationship.

“Wala akong regrets, wala naman. At least triny namin kasi alam mo 'yung lahat na lang ng tao pine-pressure kami na bakit hindi na lang kami. Magkaibigan nga kami, magkaibigan kami. Parang 'yung mga tao ayaw maniwala na magkaibigan kami. Triny namin, oh anong nangyari? Magkaibigan lang kasi talaga kami,” she said.

But Reyes is not closing her doors as to what could happen in the future.

“As of now, siguro [may chance pa]. Ayaw ko magsalita ng tapos. Ayaw ko sabihin na wala na talaga. Ayaw ko sabihin na mayroon. Hindi ko alam,” she said.

The “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin” actress also stressed that their breakup was a mutual decision, thus they harbor no bad feelings toward each other.

At the same time, Reyes also cleared actress Ynna Asistio, who has been tagged as the alleged reason behind their split.

“Si Ynna Asistio, malapit ako sa kanya and sa pamilya niya although hindi ko sila madalas makausap. Pero masasabi ko na close ako sa kanila. Malapit din si Derek sa pamilya nila and kay Ynna. Hindi po siya ang dahilan. Hindi siya third party,” she said.

“Kawawa naman si Ynna. Ngayon ko lang siya actually klinaro kasi hindi naman ako nagpapa-interview, ngayon lang,” she added.

Derek denies rekindling romance with Cristine in Hawaii

MANILA – Actor Derek Ramsay denied rumors that he and actress Cristine Reyes have rekindled their romance after they spent time together in Hawaii for a series of shows.

In an interview with the entertainment website Pep.ph, Ramsay said it is not true that they have gotten back together, adding that he believes that they are better off as friends.

“No, it’s not true. We’re friends, we're better off that way. Nakita ko nga sa Instagram na parang sinasabing boses ni Derek 'yun... hindi ako yun,” he said.

Despite their breakup, Ramsay said she and Reyes have managed to go back to how they used to be when they were just close friends.

“Yeah, we were like what we used to be. Kaibigan niya rin 'yung best friend ko from Australia. Parang nagsama kami, apat kami noon. 'Yung ex-boss ng best friend ko was with us. And there were few days na we did something together,” he explained.

While they stayed in the same hotel in Hawaii, Ramsay clarified that they weren’t together the entire time.

“Cristine and I, we’re in the same hotel, we were able to talk, so wala kaming problema. But she moved to… she had a show pa in the States, mainland. She went off to the mainland. Ako, bumalik na ako dito,” he said.

Ramsay added: “There, she had her own thing, her own itinerary. Pero there was one time na we did all go out, and we had a lot of fun. Clean fun.”

By Ramsay's admission, he and Reyes became a couple last August 28, after being close friends since 2011 when they co-starred in the romance-drama film "No Other Woman."

It was on October 7 when Ramsay admitted that his one-month romance with the actress was the “shortest longest relationship” he ever had.

“Shortest [because] it’s a month. Longest, because I have a friend for life. And I’m gonna be her friend for life,” he said in a report published on philstar.com.

While he refused to give details about his breakup with Reyes, Ramsay said, “It’s just a decision that was made.”

After one month, Derek, Cristine break up?

MANILA – Derek Ramsay and Cristine Reyes are both mum on rumors that they have already called it quits after just a little over a month into their relationship.

Speculations about the breakup began circulating online after Ramsay changed his Instagram username from “kingderekramsay” to “kidlatramsay11.”

Meanwhile, from the username @QueenCKRamsay, Reyes is now using the Twitter name @AwesomeQueenCk.

While Ramsay has now kept his image-sharing account private, Reyes, for her part, has not posted any picture with the actor in the past few days.

Reyes and Ramsay became a couple last August 28.

Prior to their relationship, the two first were tapped to play a married couple in the romance-drama film "No Other Woman" in 2011. At the time, Reyes and Ramsay were still with their respective partners.

It was only only in January 2013 that Reyes and actor-dancer Rayver Cruz made a televised announcement of their separation, which happened the previous year.

Ramsay and actress Angelica Panganiban, on the other hand, broke up in February 2012.

Since Reyes' separation from Cruz, the actress and Ramsay have been romantically linked. While the two admitted that they frequently go out, they maintained they were only friends.

The two said becoming a couple came unexpectedly for them as they had intended to be only good friends.

Cristine Reyes, Derek Ramsay now a couple

MANILA -- After years of "going out as friends," Cristine Reyes and Derek Ramsay became a couple on August 28.

The 36-year-old actor confirmed the news, as quoted in a report published Thursday on entertainment news site Yahoo! OMG. Ramsay said he and Reyes agreed to admit the relationship if asked.

On micro-blogging site Twitter, Ramsay readily addressed a comment from a follower noting he earlier said he would no longer date a showbiz personality after his controversial break-up with former girlfriend, actress Angelica Panganiban.

"I did say that I'll never date someone from showbiz and that I'd never date Cristine [because] she is a friend. I eat my words," he said.

Reyes, however, was less forward in addressing similar questions when she spoke with reporters at the sidelines of a press conference held Wednesday for the upcoming ABS-CBN series "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin."

Asked on the status of her "love life," Reyes said, "Gano'n pa rin, single parin ako. I don't know... ano ba ang isasagot?"

She continued, laughing, "Nagsisinungaling lang ako... Pwede bang hindi magsalita? Hindi ko talaga alam kung paano 'yan sasagutin sa ngayon. I swear, hindi ko pa talaga alam!"

Close friends since 2011

At the time they co-starred as a married couple in the romance-drama film "No Other Woman" in 2011, Reyes and Ramsay were still with their respective former partners.

Reyes and actor-dancer Rayver Cruz in January made a televised announcement of their separation, which took place last year. Ramsay and Panganiban, on the other hand, broke up in February 2012, according to the actress.

Since Reyes' separation from Cruz, who is one of her co-stars in "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin," the actress and Ramsay have been romantically linked.

While the two admitted frequently going out and being "in constant communication," they maintained they were only friends.

Asked on Wednesday what specific qualities she likes about Ramsay, Reyes only said, "Pareho kaming baliw, pareho kaming outgoing. 'Yung pagiging family man, 'yun ang pinakagusto ko sa kanya."

Jake Cuenca denies dating Cristine Reyes

MANILA – Actor Jake Cuenca has denied that he is currently dating actress Cristine Reyes after several photos of them together made the rounds online.

In an interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, Cuenca said he and Reyes are just good friends and there is nothing more than that.

“Magkaibigan lang kami nun. We have a very good understanding. Isa siyang friendship na ayaw kong sirain,” he said.

Cuenca, however, admitted that Reyes is an attractive woman. “Alam niyo naman si Cristine, isang napakagandang babae na talagang kapag katrabaho mo, hindi mo kayang tigilang tignan,” he said.

Despite this, Cuenca maintained that both of them are happy being single.

Cuenca was previously linked to actress Lovi Poe, while Reyes’ last romantic relationship was with actor Rayver Cruz.

Cristine Reyes to do 9 'love scenes' in new film

MANILA -- Cristine Reyes is taking on the challenge of doing several "love scenes" in an upcoming sexy film.

The 24-year-old actress will appear in nine "love scenes" with actor Gabby Concepcion in a big-screen remake of the 1983 film "Nagalit ang Buwan sa Haba ng Gabi," according to the project's director Andoy Ranay.

"Mayroon sila ditong nine love scenes na hindi ko pa nasisimulan, with Gabby. Sila lang dalawa, so sabi ko nga sa kanila, 'Pa-ready nalang ha. Kailangan ready,'" Ranay told ABS-CBN News at the sidelines of the project's filming on Thursday.

In a separate interview, Reyes said that although she is overwhelmed at the prospect, she trusts in Ranay and the professionalism of her onscreen partners.

"Naloloka ako kasi... Pero okay lang, go, fight, fight! Trabaho naman 'yan eh, and tiwala ako kay Direk Andoy Ranay, and hello, Sir Gabby Concepcion naman ang ka-eksena ko 'di ba," she said.

"I'm very sure very gentleman si Sir Gabby and si Jake (Cuenca) din as well," she said.

Asked on her limitations when it comes to doing "love scenes" on the big screen, Reyes said, "Siyempre kung ano lang 'yung pwede ipakita namin, kasi kung hindi naman namin maipapalabas, ba't pa namin gagawin?"

No more sexy outfits

However, on stage, the actress said she now prefers to wear less revealing outfits, in light of feedback to a sexy number she performed on the concert variety program "ASAP" in February.

The dance number had Reyes in a red fringe dress performing with male dancers inside a boxing ring.
"Nagtatampo nga ako kasi ba't pag ako ang gumagawa, laging may issue. Bakit pag sina Kim Chiu at Maja (Salvador) hindi niyo sinisita? Pag ako sinisita niyo," she said in jest.

Following a controversial performance of actress Anne Curtis in the same program last month, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) required the staff of the show to attend a gender-sensitivity seminar.

The government agency also reminded "ASAP" to regulate themes and outfits worn by the perfomers on the program.

Of the recent move, Reyes said, laughing, "Pabor ako diyan, kasi lagi ko sinasabihan 'yung stylist ko, 'Please naman 'wag na kita tiyan, balutin mo naman ako, kasi palagi nalang ba kailangan requirement ko tangga, lagi nalang ba kailangan naka-shorts?'"

She said this is the reason why during her recent appearances on "ASAP," where she performs twice a month, she can be seen wearing more conservative outfits.

Cristine denies dating Dennis Trillo anew

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Cristine Reyes denied that she and actor Dennis Trillo are trying to rekindle their romance again.

This comes after they were seen together in Cebu recently.

But in an interview with "The Buzz" that aired on Sunday, Reyes explained that they did not plan to see each other at that time.

The actress said it just so happened that both of them were in Cebu at the same time.

"Hindi naman po 'yun sadya. Nagktaon lang na nandoon din siya sa lugar at nandoon din ako kasama ang mga kaibigan ko. It doesn't mean na makita kami in public, nagde-date na kami," she said.

Reyes and Trillo broke up in 2009. After that, Reyes entered into a relationship with actor Rayver Cruz.

Cruz and Reyes, however, admitted just last week that they have already called it quits.

After the breakup, Reyes is now also being linked to her "No Other Woman" co-star Derek Ramsay -- which both have denied.

Cristine reiterates apology to Ara, asks public to withhold judgment

Cristine Reyes reiterated her apology to Ara Mina on Wednesday after the public apology she issued in a live interview on “The Buzz” on Sunday had failed to appease her elder half-sister.

“Sana magkaayos na kami ni Ate. Medyo matagal na po ang issue at marami nang nadamay. Kaya nagpapakumbaba na po ako para humingi ng tawad sa ate ko,” the actress said in a statement.

Ara filed charges of libel and grave coercion against Cristine in April after receiving a series of offensive text messages from Cristine over a financial dispute involving the sharing of payment for a property they had bought for their mother.

Ara had told media that she filed the case to teach Cristine a lesson and only a sincere public apology from the latter would make her withdraw it.

On Monday, Ara questioned the sincerity of Cristine’s apology on “The Buzz” and said she did not see enough remorse to reconsider her case.

Cristine, whose full name is Ara Marie Cristine Reyes, said she is very sorry that their feud has gotten out of hand.

“Nakakalungkot pong isipin na lumaki ng ganito ang misunderstanding namin ni Ate,” she said. “Nung una pa lang gusto ko nang mapag-usapan namin ang issue para makapag-explain at magkaintindihan.”

Cristine said she has sent several text messages to Ara requesting for a private meeting so she can apologize personally.

Cristine said Ara has not responded to any of them. ”Hindi pa po siguro siya handa na makipag-meet sa akin in private para subukang maayos ang mga bagay-bagay,” she surmised.

Nevertheless, Cristine remains hopeful that the feud will be resolved amicably soon. She also expressed remorse for hurting other members of her family who have been caught in the crossfire, especially their mother.

“Sorry na may ibang mga taong nasaktan at patuloy na nasasaktan dahil sa conflict,” she said.

Cristine is aware of the negative public perception the controversy has brought upon her. She is appealing for understanding and asking people to withhold their judgment until the issue has been resolved.

“Nakakalungkot na may humuhusga na sa akin, lalo na sa pagiging sincere ko. Wala naman po sigurong tao ang ayaw na nagkakasundo ang kanyang mga mahal sa buhay, lalo na ang sariling pamilya,” she said.

Ara not buying Cristine’s ‘insincere’ apology, won’t withdraw libel case

Ara Mina says she found the public apology Cristine Reyes issued on “The Buzz” on Sunday lacking in remorse and sincerity.

It won’t move her to withdraw the libel and grave coercion suit she filed against her half-sister in April over allegedly vulgar text messages Cristine had sent her during Holy Week.

“Ang sabi ko noon, ang kailangan niya lang gawin eh mag-public apology. Pero public apology na totoo sa loob niya,” Ara told Interaksyon.com on Monday.

“Gusto ko lang siyang matuto sa kasalukuyang mga pangyayari. Eh mukhang hindi pa rin niya ito natututunan,” the 32-year-old actress added.

“I’m sorry, and I would like to apologize if I ever offended you,” Cristine addressed Ara in her interview with “The Buzz” host Boy Abunda. “I tried my best na pumunta sa ‘yo…Sinabi ko pa sa ‘yo, kung gusto mo, luluhod ako sa harapan mo. Sana lumambot na ang puso mo sa akin para maayos na itong gulo. Para sa pamilya natin, sa ikatatahimik ng pamilya nation.”

The 23-year-old Viva talent admitted she was holding back emotions to avoid a breakdown. “Ayokong ilabas ang emosyon ko dito. Kasi gusto kong maging positive sa life,” she said.

Judging by most reactions in the social media, Cristine not only failed to move Ara, she failed to touch the public as well. Messages from followers of Ara’s Twitter account said as much.

Ara retweeted some quotes sent to her, such as this one from British statesman Benjamin Disraeli: “One of the hardest things in this world is to admit you are wrong. And nothing is more helpful in resolving a situation than its frank admission.”

Ara forwarded another tweet to this reporter with her comment in the end: “When things aren’t working out as you wish, be patient. Stop trying to move ahead of God. His timing is perfect. Trust Him. Sus! Apology na ba ‘yun, Tita Pi?”

Ara vowed to issue an official statement this week, but she said that she hasn’t changed her mind about the cases she filed against Cristine.

She is sticking to her conviction that she is out to teach her younger sister a lesson in manners and gratitude.

“Sinabi ko rin before na mahal ko siya bilang kapatid ko. Sinabi ko rin naman na ayaw ko siyang makulong kaya ang sa akin lang eh ‘yung mabigyan siya ng pang-habangbuhay na leksyon.

“Sabi ko rin, anumang sugat eh napaghihilom ng panahon. Subalit ang pagpapatawad eh ibinibigay lang sa mga taong nagsisisi at humihingi ng tawad,” Ara said.

Ara also clarified that it was not only she who was hurt by Cristine.

“Sana humingi din siya ng paumanhin sa mga taong idinamay niya. Bottom line rin nito eh ‘yung mga tao’ng nasagasaan niya sa ginawa niya. Mahirap talaga ‘yung iba ang sinasabi sa ginagawa,” she said.

Ara considers herself semi-retired from show business, although she accepts offers to do shows abroad occasionally. ”Kaya nga I enrolled sa cooking class para mas harapin ko na lang uli ang pagbi-business in the future. And at the end of this month, graduation na namin ng mga kasama ko sa cooking class,” she shared.

She spends her spare time keeping in shape through bikram yoga “and bonding with family and friends who matter.”

She and Cristine have not met face to face since Holy Week when their dispute over a financial matter provoked Cristine to send the offensive text messages that Ara continues to resent.

A few weeks ago, she and Cristine were both invited to the wedding of their sister Heidi. Ara, however, could not attend because she was in Dubai for a series of shows.

“So hindi pa rin itinatadhana na magkita kami ng face to face. I don’t really know kung ano ang mangyayari, kung ano ang masasabi ko. Ang sa akin lang, magpakatotoo na lang for once! ‘Wag na ‘yang mga kailangan pa bang lumuhod or whatever. Alam natin hindi naman ‘yun mangyayari, right?”
