Jinkee planning to ask Manny to retire from boxing after loss

Jinkee Pacquiao is planning to convince her husband, Senator Manny Pacquiao, to finally retire from boxing after losing to Australian fighter Jeff Horn.

The two boxers faced off at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Sunday, which saw Horn winning by unanimous decision.

Judges scored the bout 117-111, 115-113, 115-113, all in favor of Horn, giving the Australian boxer the WBO welterweight title – the first world championship of his young professional career.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News after the match, Jinkee acknowledged that her husband is no longer getting any younger.

“Yun lang siguro ang ipapakiusap namin sa kanya. Mas magiging happy ako at si Mommy D and, of course, 'yung mga anak ko,” she said.

According to Jinkee, she got worried when she saw that Pacquiao already had cuts in the face.

“Doon ako kinabahan na baka mahinto yung fight. ‘Di ba usually kapag ganoon, natatalo 'yung boxer. Hinihinto na nila tapos winner na 'yung kalaban,” she said. “Nung na-headbutt na siya, doon ako natakot kasi ayaw kong nakikita siyang duguan.”

Nonetheless, Jinkee thought the Pacquiao-Horn match was a very close fight.

“Malakas din kasi si Horn. Pero si Manny, pinakita pa rin niya ang kanyang lakas at bilis,” she said.

Jinkee gives P. Diddy's mansion a thumbs up

MANILA, Philippines – Sarangani Vice Governor Jinkee Pacquiao gave the Beverly Hills mansion her seal of approval and hopes their family can move into the property in April.

Jinkee and the Pacquiao children arrived in Los Angeles yesterday where they had a reunion with Manny Pacquiao, who had a day off from training ahead of his May 2 showdown against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The entire family visited the Beverly Hills mansion today, with the children obviously thrilled with swimming pools.

"The swimming pool is amazing," her daughter Princess Pacquiao said.

"Thumbs up," Jinkee said. "Approve naman. Okay lang maganda ang bahay talaga, maaliwalas."

Pacquiao has already signed the contract for the house and paid a downpayment.

"Tinatrabaho na," said the "Pacman."

The mansion originally belonged to hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, who owned in it 1998 back when he was still dating pop diva Jennifer Lopez. He sold it in 2001.

The property had a listing price of $11.9-M.

"Siguro madalas ang punta dito, kasi sayang naman ang bahay sa laki kung hindi titirahan ng matagal," said Jinkee.

Jinkee says they want to move in before the May 2 fight. "First week of April siguro if ever, para at least ma-enjoy naman 'yung bahay for a month bago pumunta ng Las Vegas," she explained. -- From a report by Dyan Castillejo, ABS-CBN News.

Jinkee: I was really scared for my husband

MANILA, Philippines – Jinkee Pacquiao admitted she was not ready to see her husband Manny Pacquiao fall down and unable to move after the Filipino boxer walked straight to the right hand of Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez on Sunday.

In a phone interview with “The Buzz,” Jinkee said she wanted to run to her husband, who was on the ring motionless for what seemed like a long time, but some people restrained her.

“By the grace of God, I'm okay, he’s okay. Nagulat ako kasi first time ko nakita si Manny na matagal nakabangon so natakot talaga ako. Gusto ko umakyat sa ring pero gusto nila yung mga doktor muna, titignan muna siya,” she said.

Jinkee said she did not think anymore that Pacquiao lost the fight because all she was thinking about at that moment was his health condition.

She said Pacquiao already had himself checked in the hospital and that all his scans were clear.

“Praise God na okay naman siya. Hindi na namin iniisip na natalo siya, basta ang mahalaga yung kalusugan niya,” she said.

According to Jinkee, she talked to Pacquiao about not fighting again but her husband just remained silent.

“Unang sinabi ko sa kanya may purpose si Lord na baka gusto niya huminto ka na sa boxing, mag-focus na lang tayo sa pag-serve sa kanya. Wala lang siyang sinabi, tahimik lang,” she said,

Jinkee said Pacquiao already talked to their children, who watched the bout on television in the Philippines.

“Tinawagan na ni Manny kanina 'yung mga bata. 'Yung dalawang babae. okay naman. Sila pa 'yung nagsasabi pa ‘Papa, okay lang 'yan, gusto namin happy ka.’ Pero 'yung dalawang lalaki, medyo galit sila. ung anak ko na si Michael, binato pa daw yung TV kanina,” she said.

Meanwhile, Jinkee thanked all the Filipinos who supported and prayed for Pacquiao.

“Para sa mga kababayan natin, nagpapasalamat kami na nandiyan kayo. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat diyan sa Pilipinas,” she said.

Pacquiao gracefully accepts defeat

MANILA, Philippines – Displaying grace and class, Filipino ring icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao readily accepted his stunning knockout defeat at the hands of his greatest rival, Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico.

In a phone interview on "TV Patrol" on Sunday, Pacquiao said his loss was just part of the nature of sports.

“Ginawa nating ang lahat, at talaga naman na kailangang tanggapin natin. ‘Yan ang trabaho natin, hindi lahat ng panahon ay panalo,” Pacquiao said.

“Nakita naman nila ang performance ko, aggressive. Maganda ang performance ko. Lucky punch talaga,” he added.

Marquez knocked down Pacquiao for the first time ever in the third round, although Pacquiao cancelled it out with a knockdown of his own in the fifth round.

But late in the sixth round, Pacquiao walked right into a short right hand by Marquez, and the “Pacman” dropped face first to the canvas and was motionless for several moments.

His wife, Jinkee, was hysterical after watching the boxer get knocked out.

“Nagulat ako at natako. First time kong nakita si Manny na na-knock out talaga. Matagal siya bago makabangon. Natakot ako kung ano nangyari sa kanya,” Jinkee said in an interview on "The Buzz."

Pacquiao went to a hospital after the bout as a precautionary measure, but the results of his CT scan were negative.

“Okay naman, ayos naman ang lahat,” he said. “Galing na kami sa ospital at wala namang diperensya.”

The knockout notwithstanding, Pacquiao seemed satisfied with his performance as he showed better movement and aggressiveness that he lacked in his previous fights.

“Maganda ‘yung laban namin. Balik na ‘yung aggressiveness ko. Talagang natiyempuhan lang tayo,” Pacquiao said, adding that he was leading on the scorecards at the time of the stoppage.

But he said that he has accepted his defeat.

“Sa larangan ng sports, may panalo at may talo,” Pacquiao said. “Dapat handa ka rin na tanggapin kapag dumating na ang panahon na talo.”
