Senator Robert Byrd

West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd died. Sen. Robert Byrd died at the age of 92, after being hospitalized in serious condition for heat exhaustion and severe dehydration.

Jesse Jacobs, a family spokesman, said Byrd died peacefully at about 3 a.m. at Inova Hospital in Fairfax, Va.


Sen. Robert C. Byrd, the longest serving Senator in U.S. history. Sen. Robert Byrd was a Member of this nation's Congress for more than a quarter of the time it has existed, and over a quarter of senators today's meeting and the President of the United States have been alive. Nine times the people of his state sent him to the Senate and more than 18,500 vote was cast in his chamber will never be equaled. His political career lasted a dozen chairs and a number of advances and achievements of America. And through one of the longest political careers in history, nobody overpowered Byrd in a single election.
