KC Concepcion joins flood relief efforts, shrugs off haters on Twitter

KC Concepcion is among the many celebrities who joined the relief operations for the victims of the floods in Metro Manila and nearby provinces earlier this week. She did her part as a volunteer of the World Food Programme.

“I’m not someone who will not do anything. I’ve done many charity works in the past and this is one situation that calls for the help of many who can readily give in order to save many lives,” she said.

KC is proud that many of her colleagues likewise rose to the occasion and contributed their time and resources to help the victims.

“I am happy that many of us celebrities are doing their part. We are doing this para marami kaming matulungan. This is not just for us—buhay na ng maraming tao ang involved dito,” she said.

She is saddened, however, that some people still found the opportunity to belittle her and her fellow artistas’ charity efforts. KC admits that she has her share of bashers and haters on Twitter, who have questioned her sincerity to help.

The actress and TV host realizes that it’s just impossible to please everyone.

“Mahirap mag-please ng maraming tao. Gumawa ka ng maganda, may masasabi sila. Gumawa ka ng hindi maganda, mas may masasabi sila. Saan ba kami lulugar niyan? In times like this, walang arti-artista sa amin.

“Ang pagtulong ang pinaka-main focus namin. This is not the time to bash other celebrities. Please have the heart to know that. Now if they don’t appreciate what we are all doing and they think it’s all for show, that’s their opinion. We will respect that,” she said.

However, KC wishes these critics would find more productive things to do, such as get away from their computer or cellphone screens and help the victims, too.

“Basta kami, we are doing our best to help these flood victims. Sa kahit na maliit na paraan namin. And I hope other people out there are also doing their part. They can call any TV networks that accepts pledges and donations. Meron ding mga malls and other establishments that accepts donations. Kahit sa gano’n mga paraan, we can do our share to help our fellowmen who are in need,” she said.

In her Twitter account, KC posted a plea to government to come up with a better solution so that a disaster of this magnitude would not happen again.

“May pera daw po ang gobyerno. Sana after nito ay unahin nila ang flood prevention solutions. O kahit rainfall-harvesting facilities man lang,” she said, echoing her tweet.

KC remains busy with her hosting chores for “The X Factor Philippines” and the taping for the upcoming drama series “Against All Odds” in which she stars with Judy Ann Santos and Sam Milby.

Her backbreaking schedule forced her to say goodbye to a movie project with Anne Curtis and Derek Ramsay. Originally called “Nothing Compares to You”, the film is now named, well, “Don’t Say Goodbye”. Andi Eigenmann took over her role.
