Martin del Rosario wants 'risky' roles

MANILA, Philippines -- For actor Martin del Rosario, the riskier his role on-screen, the better.

The Kapamilya star sees his current TV role as his most challenging yet, after having played a person with mental disability, a drug addict, a young father, and a gay man in his previous dramatic appearances.

Now, Del Rosario portrays a student who is romantically involved with his teacher, played by actress Denise Laurel, in ABS-CBN's afternoon drama series "Pintada".

"Mas risky 'yung roles mas gusto ko pa," del Rosario said of his current TV portrayal. "For me, challenge kasi 'yun na gusto ko maabot, na gusto ko ma-achieve."

"So far ito 'yung pinaka-challenging kasi student-teacher relationship," he told ABS-CBN News during a press conference for the horror flick "Amorosa: The Revenge", where he stars.

Trending 'Pintada'

Since it premiered in July, and due to the subject it tackles, "Pintada" has become a trending topic on social networking sites such as microblogging site Twitter.

"Gusto ko magpasalamat sa mga tao na sumuporta, kasi naa-appreciate namin na every week, nu'ng pilot week, lalo na nu'ng second, third week, everyday 'yan nagte-trend," del Rosario said.

"Talagang 'yung mga fans, makikita mo 'yung effort na, na alam nila 'yung storya, magugulat ka talaga. 'Yung mga nagte-trend, 'tsaka kung ano 'yung mismong nangyayari sa episode," he added.

The 16th installment in the "Precious Hearts Romances" series, "Pintada" airs weekdays during ABS-CBN's Kapamilya Gold block.

Meanwhile, "Amorosa", where del Rosario stars with Angel Aquino, Empress Schuck and Enrique Gil, will hit theaters nationwide on August 29.
