Zsa Zsa appeals for prayers before surgery

MANILA, Philippines – Singer and actress Zsa Zsa Padilla has called on Filipinos to pray for her successful surgery, which is scheduled on Monday.

In a taped interview with “The Buzz” aired a day before her operation, Padilla said she is hoping that her procedure will have no complications so she can come home to Manila immediately to rest.

“I draw strength from all of you. Maraming, maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat at sana please continue to pray for me para maging successful ang aking sugery at walang maging complication,” she said.

Padilla earlier told ABS-CBN News that she will undergo laparoscopic surgery.

"Laparoscopic surgery will be performed -- four holes. Two days sa hospital then follow up. After a week I can fly out na. I can work after four weeks, faster recovery. At least I can go back to work," she said at the time.

"After six months follow up, unless the pathologist says otherwise -- meaning if it isn't stage one after biopsy -- then every year check-up na ako. What I have is T1A, it's a low for of stage one cancer, unless the pathologist says otherwise after surgery," she added.

Padilla's doctor is the same one who performed lithotripsy on her long-time partner Dolphy in the 1990s.

Meanwhile, one of Dolphy’s sons, Eric Quizon, said their whole family is behind Padilla through this ordeal.

“Siyempre family namin si Zsa Zsa, she’s part of the family. 'Yung mga kapatid ko sa America, 'yung mga kapatid ko sa San Francisco, pupunta din sa LA, bibisitahin siya,” he said.

Quizon said he is certain that Padilla will get through this because she has a strong will power.

“Iba ang will power ni Zsa Zsa so I know she will overcome this. Kaming pamilya, alam namin at umaasa kami na makakarecover si Zsa Zsa sa kundisyong ito,” he said.

At 10 p.m. on Monday (Manila time), Padilla will go under the knife to remove the malignant growth found in her kidney.

Her eldest daughter Karylle is set to fly to the United States on Monday morning to be with her mom.
