Miami Dolphins' Cameron Wake sits out practice following Monday car accident

Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake did not practice Tuesday after being involved in a two-car collision in Plantation, Fla., on Monday, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

Wake watched part of practice from the sidelines but went inside the team facilities for the second half of the Dolphins’ morning session. He had no visible injuries, the newspaper reports.

According to Plantation police, Wake crashed his black BMW into a white Lexus that was attempting to make a left turn at an intersection in Plantation. The other driver, 70-year-old Wallace Walderman, was cited for violating Wake’s right of way. Both cars were considered to be totaled, police told the Sun-Sentinel.

Wake was not hurt at the scene, but Walderman was taken to a hospital for minor injuries, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Police told the newspaper that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Wake could miss Friday’s exhibition game against the Carolina Panthers because of lingering injuries or as a precautionary measure, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
