MANILA, Philippines – The De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers sneaked past the National University (NU) Bulldogs in double overtime, 87-86, behind the 35 points of rookie standout Jeron Teng.
Teng’s scoring outburst on Saturday set a new UAAP record for most points scored by a freshman, surpassing the 25-point performance of University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroon’s Mikee Reyes in 2009.
Teng figured in a scoring duel with Bobby Ray Parks Jr., who also scored 35 points for NU in a losing effort.
The 35-point performance by the two players was the most points scored by a player in the last 10 UAAP seasons.
Guard Almond Vosotros also chipped in 18 points for the Archers.
La Salle’s win puts them in a 4th place tie with NU in the 75th UAAP Men's Basketball standings, behind Ateneo, FEU and UST.source: abs-cbnnews.com
