'Phantom' cast member loses Prada bag to 'salisi gang'

MANILA, Philippines -- An Australian cast member of the Manila staging of the hit Broadway musical "The Phantom of the Opera" filed a report before local police on Thursday, saying he lost personal belongings to the notorious "Salisi Gang" last month.

Jordan Simon Pollard, the understudy for the role of Raoul in "Phantom," told the Manila Police District (MPD) that his Prada bag and its contents were stolen last September 30.

According to the 22-year-old actor, he was dining at the Harbor View branch of the Army Navy restaurant at around 6:15 p.m. when four thieves took his bag, which he said was placed under the table.

The police said the suspects were two males and two females, based on the security footage of the restaurant.

Among the contents of Pollard's Prada bag, the police said, were an iPad, a bottle of moisturizer, a number of books and a bottle of hair-straightener.

According to Senior Police Officer 2 John Cayetano, in a separate report from the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Pollard did not appear irate upon filing his report at the MPD on Thursday.

On the contrary, Cayetano said the "Phantom" cast member even made light of the situation by cracking jokes while he was at the police station.

Pollard said he just wanted to report the incident to caution others to keep safe their personal belongings while in public, according to Cayetano.
