Boracay, beaches still top getaways for celebs

MANILA, Philippines – Although thousands of tourists are expected to spend the Holy Week break in Boracay island, this did not deter several celebrities from braving the crowds at the popular beach destination.

On Tuesday, several celebrities took to their social media accounts to share their photos while vacationing in Boracay.

Among the stars who are taking a break in Boracay are actor Derek Ramsay with Belo Medical Group’s Cristalle Henares, the daughter of celebrity doctor Vicki Belo; senatorial candidate Sonny Angara; and prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde.

“On my way to boracay to help @cristallebelo protect everyone from the intense of the sun. #belosunspray,” Ramsay said on Twitter.

Several Kapamilya personalities are also basking in the sun of Boracay. Among them are “Bandila” anchor Karen Davila, who gushed about the personalized touch at the posh Discovery Shores Boracay; “Kuya Kim” Atienza, “TV Patrol” entertainment reporters Marie Lozano and Gretchen Fullido; and DJ Mod of “It’s Showtime.”

“My first time to try ATV...Super fun under the sun!” Fullido tweeted.

But other celebrities chose to get their suntans elsewhere.

Actress Rhian Ramos, along with boyfriend KC Montero and her family, tweeted from Balesin.

“Greetings from Balesin! Today we're having lunch in their Bali themed restaurant,” Ramos said.

Actress Ruffa Gutierrez chose to take a break in Cebu together with her kids, where she enjoyed several watersports.

“What an amazing adventure! Parasailing, boating, jetskiing. My kinda sporty afternoon,” she said on Twitter.

Singer Jed Madela is also on his way to Cebu with a flight scheduled later on Thursday night.

In another part of Cebu is singer and Sexy Chef owner Rachel Alejandro, who chose to stay in Malapascua.

“So happy to be in Malapascua again after 3 years. Yippee!” she said on Twitter.

Fashion designer Rajo Laurel and socialite Divine Lee preferred the quiet ambience of Huma Island in Palawan.

“Peace & paradise!” Laurel said in Twitter.
