7 more staycation packages for Holy Week 2015


MANILA – Can’t go out of town during the Holy Week break? Here are more staycation packages offered by hotels in Metro Manila for the long holiday.

Holy week starts on March 29 (Palm Sunday) and ends on April 4 (Easter Sunday).

Amelie Hotel Manila

The newly opened Amelie Hotel Manila is offering a special package of P2,600 net per night for a minimum of three night’s stay starting April 1.

The package, which is valid until June 15, also includes breakfast for two at the hotel’s Galleon Restaurant, daily bottled water, daily newspaper, free Wi-Fi access and use of the gym.

Discovery Primea

The newly launched Discovery Primea is offering two-night and three-night room packages until April 5.

Each room package includes breakfast at Restaurant Tapenade for two persons in a Business Flat and Executive Suite, and for two persons in a Primea Suite; free breakfast for two children below 12 years sharing a room with parents in a Business Flat/Executive Suite and three children in a Primea Suite; use of the pool and fitness center; 15% discount on food and beverage; free parking for one car per suite; and a signature Primea Easter gift.

Rates for a two-night stay are P15,760 (Business Flat), P22,000 (Executive Suite) and Primea Suite (P28,700), while rates for a three-night stay include P20,640 (Business Flat), Executive Suite (P31,350) and Primea Suite (P40,800).

Edsa Shangri-La

This Holy Week break, Edsa Shangri-La is offering overnight accommodation at P8,000 net for a minimum two-night stay, and P7,000 net to guests who will book at least three nights at the hotel’s newly renovated Tower Deluxe Room. The rates include breakfast for two adults and two kids below six years old at HEAT and are valid from March 29 to April 15, 2015.

Kids can also take part at Edsa Shangri-La’s Easter event on April 5 which includes performances by Dibo and Friends, a s’mores station, cupcake decorating, a kiddie salon, coloring activities, a lunch set and other giveaways. Tickets are at P1,550 per person.

Aljur Abrenica loses nearly P600,000 in robbery


MANILA – Actor Aljur Abrenica was robbed of nearly P600,000 worth of cash and valuables in his home in Quezon City during the Holy Week break.

According to an online report of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Abrenica was out of town when his house in Scout Fernandez Street in Barangay Sacred Heart was burglarized.

The report said Abrenica found out about what happened only upon his return to his house on Black Saturday. He left for a vacation last Wednesday at around 5 p.m.

He said the main door of his house, which he left locked, had been forced open and it was evident that the thieves ransacked their rooms at the second floor.

The online report said Abrenica had reported as stolen P150,000 cash, P250,000 worth of jewelry and P135,000 worth of laptops and cellphones.

Boracay, beaches still top getaways for celebs


MANILA, Philippines – Although thousands of tourists are expected to spend the Holy Week break in Boracay island, this did not deter several celebrities from braving the crowds at the popular beach destination.

On Tuesday, several celebrities took to their social media accounts to share their photos while vacationing in Boracay.

Among the stars who are taking a break in Boracay are actor Derek Ramsay with Belo Medical Group’s Cristalle Henares, the daughter of celebrity doctor Vicki Belo; senatorial candidate Sonny Angara; and prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde.

“On my way to boracay to help @cristallebelo protect everyone from the intense of the sun. #belosunspray,” Ramsay said on Twitter.

Several Kapamilya personalities are also basking in the sun of Boracay. Among them are “Bandila” anchor Karen Davila, who gushed about the personalized touch at the posh Discovery Shores Boracay; “Kuya Kim” Atienza, “TV Patrol” entertainment reporters Marie Lozano and Gretchen Fullido; and DJ Mod of “It’s Showtime.”

“My first time to try ATV...Super fun under the sun!” Fullido tweeted.



But other celebrities chose to get their suntans elsewhere.

Actress Rhian Ramos, along with boyfriend KC Montero and her family, tweeted from Balesin.

“Greetings from Balesin! Today we're having lunch in their Bali themed restaurant,” Ramos said.

Actress Ruffa Gutierrez chose to take a break in Cebu together with her kids, where she enjoyed several watersports.

“What an amazing adventure! Parasailing, boating, jetskiing. My kinda sporty afternoon,” she said on Twitter.




Singer Jed Madela is also on his way to Cebu with a flight scheduled later on Thursday night.

In another part of Cebu is singer and Sexy Chef owner Rachel Alejandro, who chose to stay in Malapascua.

“So happy to be in Malapascua again after 3 years. Yippee!” she said on Twitter.



Fashion designer Rajo Laurel and socialite Divine Lee preferred the quiet ambience of Huma Island in Palawan.

“Peace & paradise!” Laurel said in Twitter.

How your favorite stars are spending Holy Week


Just like many Filipinos, your favorite celebrities are also taking advantage of the Holy Week break to relax and enjoy time with their friends and family.

Actress KC Concepcion, for instance, said she will be out of the country, although she didn't say where exactly she will be going, while singer Zsa Zsa Padilla, along with daughter Zia Quizon are in Vietnam, although her other daughter, Karylle, is in Singapore.

"I can't wait to go out of the country for Holy Week. One more working day & I'm outttttt!" Concepcion announced on her official Twitter account.

After holding a mini-concert in Boracay, actress Anne Curtis told ABS-CBN's Ginger Conejero that she will be going to Sri Lanka for the holidays. Meanwhile, Kris Aquino and her sons Joshua and James "Bimby" Yap Jr. are currently in Europe for a two-week break.

On Thursday, celebrities took to their social media accounts to post about their vacations.

Kapamilya stars Nikki Gil is in an undisclosed beach destination with boyfriend Billy Crawford. "Warming up before our dive!" she tweeted.





Also spending the Holy Week together are Isabel Oli and John Prats, who are going to Batangas. "Batangas bound :) #familytime," she posted on Twitter.




Also preferring the beach is actress Ruffa Gutierrez, who is in Cebu. "My view right now. Feel like jumping in the sea...
