Of the total, 18 are students under the Research Category; one student under the Japanese Studies Category; 12 under the Teacher Training Category; and 7 under the Young Leader's Program.
The new scholars are scheduled to leave on October to pursue further studies in various Japanese universities.
On Monday, the embassy's Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC), in cooperation with the Philippine Association of Japanese Government Scholars (PHILJAMES, Inc.), held a pre-departure orientation for the group.
Minister Setsuo Ohmori, head of the Chancery of the Embassy of Japan was present during the group's orientation.
JICC Researcher/Adviser Shinichiro Kato also welcomed the new scholars and PHILJAMES alumni who shared their experiences and offered advice to the group.
Since 1954, the Japanese Government Scholarship has been supporting foreign nationals to study in Japan for advancement of education and the promotion of mutual understanding.
About 3,000 Filipino recipients have benefited from the scholarship.
All Japanese Government Scholarship Programs are offered yearly.
