Rothwell's testosterone elevated in fight vs Vera
MANILA – Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Ben Rothwell had elevated testosterone level during his UFC 164 bout against Fil-Am Brandon Vera last August.
Yahoo! Sports reported this prompted UFC to suspend Rothwell, who won the bout via third round stoppage.
“As the result of a blood test indicating an elevated level of testosterone in his system following UFC 164 in Milwaukee, Wisc., on Aug. 31, the UFC has suspended heavyweight Ben Rothwell for nine months from the date of the contest,” the UFC said in a statement.
Rothwell’s post-fight test was conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
He will have to submit a negative drug test before he is allowed to compete again in a UFC event.
