UP Town Center ceiling collapses, injures 3
MANILA -- A portion of the ceiling of the UP Town Center along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City collapsed on Friday evening, injuring at least three people.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Ayala Land confirmed that a part of the ceiling in the mall's breezeway fell due to the strong winds brought by typhoon "Yolanda" at around 11:20 p.m.
At least three people sustained minor injuries in the accident.
"Those affected were brought immediately to the hospital for treatment and have already been sent home by the doctors. We will continue to monitor their condition," Ayala Land said.
Among those injured were Joan Santiago and her husband, Cris.
According to Joan, they were walking up the second floor of the mall when a portion of the ceiling suddenly collapsed.
Joan sustained scratches and bruises while her husband suffered a head injury.
Meanwhile, normal mall operations resumed at 11 a.m. Saturday. -- With report from dzMM
