Floyd flatly denies Pacquiao fight
MANILA – American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. outrightly denied reports of a super fight with Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao in September 2014.
Mayweather reacted to rumors spawned by a 78 SportsTV video which claimed there was a done deal between him and Pacquiao.
“All the stories you hear about Pacquiao is a lie. It's a lie. It's not true,” the controversial boxer said in Fight Hype.
“If it didn't come from Leonard's mouth, my mouth, or Al's mouth, it's not true.”
Mayweather was referring to Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, and Al Haymon, the boxing agent who wields strong influence in the boxing scene.
Koncz earlier also belied the 78SportsTV report, which created buzz on social media sites.
"That didn't come from my mouth. That didn't come from Manny's mouth. Don't believe it. It's not true," said the Canadian adviser.
78SportsTV posted the controversial video on December 13, 2013, but didn’t get much reaction until January this year.
It came earlier than Mayweather’s series of tweets which ridiculed Pacquiao’s efforts to arrange the match.
