Xian defends Kim over remarks to reporters
MANILA – Actor Xian Lim came to the defense of on-screen partner Kim Chiu who made headlines for her candid remark to reporters about the status of their relationship in real life.
Speaking on “”Mornings@ANC” on Thursday, Lim said Chiu was right when she mentioned that what’s more important is that they make their fans happy.
“What you see is what you get. As long as we are making you guys happy and our supporters happy, marami namang nagmamahal diyan. As long as they are happy, we are happy also,” he said.
Asked why they keep things private considering both of them are public figures, Lim quipped: “Everything has timing.”
“Given time, we won’t be selfish about it. Sasabihin naman namin 'yun eh. Pero this time, it’s better to leave things unsaid muna. Basta when the time comes, hindi namin siya ipagdadamot,” he said.
Lim, however, said he does not get annoyed when they get repeatedly asked about their supposed relationship.
“We always get that. I remember last year, I was interviewed by Tito Boy (Abunda). He asked me the same questions. I answered the same answers. What he told me is you can’t really blame everyone for wanting to know the real score. Kasi if they don’t want to know, matakot ka kasi ibig sabihin they don’t care about you,” he said.
“We just want to keep things private for now. Just give us time,” Lim pleaded.
During the press conference for their upcoming movie last Tuesday, Chiu was asked by showbiz columnist Aster Amoyo to just confirm or deny whether she and Lim are officially together.
The veteran reporter noted how the two have been evasive on confirming whether they are a couple despite being open about their close ties.
Chiu responded: "Ako, sinagot na rin namin 'to sa last press con namin [ni Xian]. We don't owe you any of our personal lives siguro. You can think whatever you want to think as long as you're happy when you watch us on TV, nakikita niyo kung paano kami ma-inlove, ganyan. And 'yun na 'yon. And lahat naman tayo merong mga hindi dapat i-share o dapat i-share, and it's our choice, and I hope you guys respect that."
Shortly after the press conference, reports surfaced online that Amoyo supposedly walked out of the event, although the actress on Wednesday denied this, saying, "Kung may na-offend man, pasensya na po."
