Why Xian refused to wear 'Albay' shirt
MANILA - Actor Xian Lim has apologized to Albay Governor Joey Salceda and the people of Albay for refusing to wear a souvenir shirt promoting the province.
Lim, who was invited to Albay's Tsinoy Festival, explained on Twitter that he refused to wear the shirt to avoid conflict with his clothing endorsement.
The actor made the statement after an online news report quoted him as saying, "I am not here to promote Albay."
"I just read an online article about an incident which is deeply upsetting because it doesn't tell the right story. In the article I was quoted as saying 'I am not here to promote Albay', something I never said or would ever say," he said.
"Earlier, the author of the online article handed me a coffee table book of Albay and a t-shirt to wear. My exact words to her were 'Sorry po, hindi ko maisuot yung t-shirt kasi baka magka-conflict sa clothing endorsement ko. Pasensiya na po.' Later on, someone reported her as saying 'Ayaw daw niya.' I love Albay and I am always happy to be here with its good people. I deeply apologize to Governor Salceda and the people of Albay for the misunderstanding about my reasons for refusal to wear the t-shirt."
"My parents raised me to be respectful and generous to everyone, and my management has always stressed the virtues of decency and humility. I do not do drugs and have worked hard to get to where I am. If you send me the t shirt and after I have cleared it with my clothing endorsement, I would be more than happy to wear it online and on air. I am also very willing to promote the book of Albay," he added.
(This story corrects the first paragraph to reflect that the souvenir shirt given to Lim does not bear the words "I love Albay.")

Why Xian feels friendship with Kim might level up
MANILA – Actor Xian Lim is hoping regular on-screen partner Kim Chiu will be his Valentine this coming February 14.
"Para sa akin, the best invitation sa Valentine’s is surprise," he said during his live interview on “The Buzz” on Sunday.
Although they have yet to take their relationship to the next level, Lim vowed to just continue making the actress feel special.
“Parati kong pinapakita sa kanya na nandito ako, parati ako nagdadala ng bulaklak or mga favorite niya, ng mga chocolates. Kung gumana 'yung pa-cute ko sa kanya, malalaman natin,” he said.
Lim understands that it is important that they build a strong foundation as friends first if ever they indeed become a couple in the future.
“I think to get a really good relationship, dapat 'yung friendship niyo matibay ang foundation para hindi naman kapag nandoon na kayo, medyo rocky,” he said.
During his interview on “Aquino and Abunda Tonight” last February 4, Lim gave a meaningful answer when he was asked if he and Chiu are already a couple.
"Nararamdaman ko, malapit na eh. I think lume-level up na ako," he teased without going into details.
Asked why he was able to say such thing, Lim said: “Nararamdaman ko kasi na—nasasamahan na niya ako. Kasi dati parati kaming may chaperone. Hindi kami pwedeng makanood ng sine. Ngayon sumasama na siya sa akin, sumasama na siya sa mga kaibigan ko lalo na 'yung lola at mommy ko.”
With a little more effort, Chiu said in a separate interview that Lim is close to becoming her boyfriend.
"Malapit na, konti na lang, konting push na lang," Chiu said.

MANILA -- Xian Lim admitted that he feels nervous doing a series with his new leading lady, Jessy Mendiola.
"Oo naman, of course [may kaba]," Lim told reporters in an interview on Thursday at the sidelines of the launching of his second album, "XL2."
Even if he has a new leading lady, Lim said he is confident that his fans will be there to show their support.
"Kaya po ako bilib sa kanila, kasi they always assure us na they will always be there for us, maski magkahiwalay yung project, nauna si Kim na magkaroon ng project ay nandito sila all throughout," said the actor, who rose to fame for his love team with actress Kim Chiu.
He added that he will work hard for his newest TV project.
"Siyempre naman po ay pagbubutihin namin. Pupunta kami sa set prepared. Siyempre hindi naman kami gigising na, 'ah wala lang ito.' We will do our best para sa lahat," he said.
Meanwhile, Lim said he is also set to do two movie projects with Chiu.
Their last project together was the hit movie "Bride for Rent."
"Nabalitaan ko nga nung last contract signing may dalawa kaming pelikula together, one with Ms. Ai Ai delas Alas and another one with [director] Joyce Bernal," he said.

Xian: I'm single, ready to mingle!
The 24-year-old actor drew surprised reactions with the candid confession, which he offered while on stage at the event held by a skincare brand he endorses.
Shortly after the press event, Lim was quizzed by reporters on his status and his ties with Chiu, who has referred to her relationship with the actor as "special."
Asked if he was serious with his statement, Lim said, "Why not?"
"Nagpapasalamat ako kasi feeling ko 'yung mga tumili sa right side, mga fans 'yon, e," he added, referring to the shrieks that followed his candid statement earlier.
Lim was then asked if his being single means that Chiu is "out of the picture." The actor only shrugged and mentioned his endorsed brand.
When a reporter noted that he seemed to be avoiding dicussing Chiu, the actor only said, "We have a very special relationship [at] para sa amin lang 'yon."
He repeated this when asked further about the actress.
Unsure about 'KimXi' team-up
Chiu and Lim's "love team" took off in 2011, and they have since co-starred in three TV series and two films in leading roles.
Fans of the rumored couple, dubbed "KimXi," were surprised when Chiu was paired with Coco Martin in the ongoing period drama "Ikaw Lamang," following the box-office success of the tandem's last film "Bride for Rent."
While Lim said he is set to do a new movie and a TV series, he could not confirm whether the projects would be with Chiu.
"Wala pa po, e," he said, when asked to share details about his upcoming projects. "Hindi pa po nag-sa-start, but as soon as we start, I'm going to let everyone know."
Lim was also asked for his reaction to the intrigues that hounded him recently, following his controversial number with an impersonator of Chiu which was telecast live.
When a reporter noted how Chiu was vocal of her support for him during that time, Lim only said, "Maraming, maraming salamat sa lahat ng... everyone [for[ being there, thank you."
"There are so many things to be grateful for, like this event... I feel really blessed, and there are so many things coming up my way, so I'm just really excited," he added.
"I'm just here to work hard and prove myself to people."
Lim, who is considered as one of the top endorsers in local showbiz, said he did not expect being given so many "blessings" just five years into his career.
"Even noong nagsimula ako sa mga teleserye, I didn't really expect I would go this fast. So maraming, maraming salamat sa lahat ng nagtitiwala," he said.

How Kim Chiu will spend Valentine's day
MANILA – It seems Xian Lim has yet to ask Kim Chiu for a date on February 14 as the actress admitted she is not sure if she will actually celebrate Valentine’s Day.
In an interview with entertainment site Push.com.ph, Chiu said she would be on the set of her upcoming series that day, leaving no time for planning something special.
“Naku, hindi ko pa alam," she said. "Friday ba ‘yun? May taping ata 'yun.”
Chiu also said she is not expecting anything on February 14.
“Ay wala, huwag ka na masyado mangarap para hindi masyado mataas 'yung expectation mo. Baka mag-expect ka ng something tapos hindi mangyari malungkot ka pa. Chill lang, relax,” she advised.
Prodded about the real score between her and Lim, the actress replied: “Kayo talaga, hindi naman kailangan mag-open up. Masaya naman 'yung mga tao, ganun. Okay na 'yun. Balato muna.”

Xian defends Kim over remarks to reporters
MANILA – Actor Xian Lim came to the defense of on-screen partner Kim Chiu who made headlines for her candid remark to reporters about the status of their relationship in real life.
Speaking on “”Mornings@ANC” on Thursday, Lim said Chiu was right when she mentioned that what’s more important is that they make their fans happy.
“What you see is what you get. As long as we are making you guys happy and our supporters happy, marami namang nagmamahal diyan. As long as they are happy, we are happy also,” he said.
Asked why they keep things private considering both of them are public figures, Lim quipped: “Everything has timing.”
“Given time, we won’t be selfish about it. Sasabihin naman namin 'yun eh. Pero this time, it’s better to leave things unsaid muna. Basta when the time comes, hindi namin siya ipagdadamot,” he said.
Lim, however, said he does not get annoyed when they get repeatedly asked about their supposed relationship.
“We always get that. I remember last year, I was interviewed by Tito Boy (Abunda). He asked me the same questions. I answered the same answers. What he told me is you can’t really blame everyone for wanting to know the real score. Kasi if they don’t want to know, matakot ka kasi ibig sabihin they don’t care about you,” he said.
“We just want to keep things private for now. Just give us time,” Lim pleaded.
During the press conference for their upcoming movie last Tuesday, Chiu was asked by showbiz columnist Aster Amoyo to just confirm or deny whether she and Lim are officially together.
The veteran reporter noted how the two have been evasive on confirming whether they are a couple despite being open about their close ties.
Chiu responded: "Ako, sinagot na rin namin 'to sa last press con namin [ni Xian]. We don't owe you any of our personal lives siguro. You can think whatever you want to think as long as you're happy when you watch us on TV, nakikita niyo kung paano kami ma-inlove, ganyan. And 'yun na 'yon. And lahat naman tayo merong mga hindi dapat i-share o dapat i-share, and it's our choice, and I hope you guys respect that."
Shortly after the press conference, reports surfaced online that Amoyo supposedly walked out of the event, although the actress on Wednesday denied this, saying, "Kung may na-offend man, pasensya na po."

Xian says Kim is special in every way
MANILA – After eight months of being together almost every day while working on “Ina Kapatid Anak,” Xian Lim still refused to reveal the real score between him and leading lady Kim Chiu.
In a live interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, Lim said they do not want to label their “friendship,” saying what’s more important is they are special to each other.
“She is special in every way. Si Kim kapag nakikita ko, parang complete na 'yung araw ko. This past year, every day kami nagkikita. Ang masasabi ko lang, maski pagod kami sa taping, parang nawawala lahat 'yun kapag nakikita ko si Kim,” he said.
He added: “Si Kim kapag nakikita ko, from a scale of one to ten tapos yung scale paikot-ikot pa yun. We don’t want to put any labels to anything. Every friendship is special.”
Lim and Chiu have consistently been linked with each other since they were paired in the ABS-CBN series “My Binondo Girl” in 2012.
‘Ina Kapatid Anak’ success
Meanwhile, both Lim and Chiu are grateful to the unwavering support of their fans for “Ina Kapatid Anak.”
“Nakaka-amaze ang pagtanggap nila sa amin. We are happy na nabibigay naming 'yung ine-expect nila. [Mamimiss ko 'yung] waking up every morning, naging routine na namin eh,” Lim said.
“Happy ako na nagawa ko ang 'Ina Kapatid Anak,' natapos ko siya. Nagpapasalamat ako sa suporta ng mga tao,” Chiu added.
“Ina Kapatid Anak” is currently the most watched television program in the country. The June 6 episode of "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" marked a sharp rise in the primetime series' national TV ratings, with a 6-percentage-point increase from its previous telecast.

Chopper beats yacht? Xian ignores comparisons
MANILA, Philippines -- Actor Xian Lim shrugged off comparisons between his Valentine date with Kim Chiu on a yacht and the supposed helicopter ride of Gerald Anderson and actress Maja Salvador.
"Ako kasi mas iniisip ko lang 'yung sarili ko. Mas iniisip ko ang nangyayari sa buhay ko. I don't look at other people. If it doesn't concern me. I don't pay attention to it," Lim told ABS-CBN News in an interview.
Lim said what is important to him is that he goes the extra mile to make Chiu happy everyday.
Lim surprised his "Ina Kapatid Anak" co-star last February 14 with a yacht cruise. Chiu was with her family and friends in Subic when Lim unexpectedly called her and asked to go to the Subic Yacht Club.
Meanwhile, rumored couple Anderson and Salvador reportedly spent Valentine’s Day together in Tagaytay. Citing several reports, “The Buzz” said Anderson allegedly took Salvador to Antonio’s, a high-end restaurant in Tagaytay, via a helicopter which he rented.

Xian: I don't feel the tension between Kim, Maja
MANILA, Philippines – Actor Xian Lim said he does not feel any tension between “Ina Kapatid Anak” lead stars Kim Chiu and Maja Salvador despite their alleged ongoing rift because of actor Gerald Anderson.
Anderson recently admitted his plans to pursue Salvador, the best friend of his former girlfriend Kim Chiu.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News after the finals night of Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs on Sunday, Lim vouched for the professionalism of the two actresses whenever they are on the set.
Lim, who is being romantically linked to Chiu, said the two women should be left alone.
“Sa akin wala naman akong nararamdaman eh. I guess 'yung nangyayari sa kanila, sa kanila na iyon. It doesn’t concert siguro any of us kasi it’s between them two kung ano man ang nangyayari sa kanila,” Lim said.
Asked if Chiu ever opened up to him about the matter, Lim said: “Wala akong business sa issue na iyon. I don’t have any connection with the issue.”
Lim said he is just hoping that things will soon be fixed between the two stars.
“Kahit ano pa iyan, mahirap pangunahan ang mga pangyayari. I guess we should just give them time. Let’s all give them time para maisip nila kung ano man ang pinagdadaanan nila,” he said.
Meanwhile, the actor said he is happy that Chiu appreciated his surprise to her on Valentine’s Day, which they spent on a yacht.
He said he really loves making Chiu feel special, not just on special occasions.
“Siguro bilang isang lalaki naman, you want your Valentine’s to be special. Hindi naman ako naniniwala na basta Valentine’s Day, we do something for the person. I do believe na every day, you make it special,” he said.

Xian Lim says 2012 marked 'huge leap' in career
MANILA, Philippines -- Xian Lim will remember 2012 as the year his showbiz career hit big strides, making him one of the most visible leading men in local TV and films.
After a press conference last Tuesday for his latest endorsement, Lim, 23, was asked to comment on his TV "chemistry" with his "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" co-star Maja Salvador, and whether he plans to take the romantic team-up off camera.
Instead, the Kapamilya actor pointed to his thriving career in showbiz, and how this takes higher priority than his "love life."
"Right now kasi, at this point in my life, I'm really focused on my work. This year, 2012, was a huge leap for me. I'm speaking honestly. It's a huge step for me," he said.
"Pag inuna ang pag-ibig... There's always time for that," Lim added. "I'm not saying na I'm taking it out, na completely wala. Kasi pagmaramdaman naman 'yan, mahirap pigilan ang puso. I'm just saying na I'm focused [on my career], na it's (love life) not my priority."
Kim Chiu, also his co-star in "Ina, Kapatid, Anak," has been romantically linked to Lim since they appeared as Jade and Andy in the ABS-CBN series "My Binondo Girl."
The soap did not only mark the beginnings of the love team now dubbed "KimXi," but also paved the way for bigger projects for Lim, both as an actor and as a brand/product endorser.
After the primetime series, which aired its last episode in January this year, Lim went on to host a reality talent search for children, and bagged his second lead role in a primetime series via "Ina, Kapatid, Anak."
On the big screen, he topbilled "My Cactus Heart" along with Salvador and Matteo Guidicelli, and starred in the "barkada" flick "The Reunion" with other Kapamilya stars.
On top releasing a studio album under Star Records this year, he also scored several endorsements, ranging from a fastfood chain to a hand and body lotion targeted at female consumers.
"I really want to work, I want to make people happy," Lim said.
Next year, according to the actor, new "surprises" await his followers.
After the initial delays due to "a lot of changes," his new movie with Chiu will finally start filming next year, according to Lim.
"Also, expect a surprise from me. Hindi ko muna sasabahin 'yan. I'll tell everyone siguro pag sapit ng bagong taon," he said. "Pagdating ng mga January, I'll release it probably, it's a surprise from me to the people."

Xian says he supports 'Kimerald' reunion
MANILA, Philippines -- While denying that he and Kim Chiu are now officially a couple, Xian Lim said he remains supportive of the actress' team-up with her former boyfriend Gerald Anderson.
At the sidelines of a fashion show held Tuesday night at the ongoing Philippine Fashion Week, Lim spoke to reporters about the reunion project of Chiu and Anderson in Star Cinema's "24/7 In Love," which is set to hit theaters nationwide on November 21.
The romantic-comedy movie is the 20th anniversary film offering of ABS-CBN's talent management outfit Star Magic. It will also see the first onscreen team-up of Anderson and Chiu since appearing together in "Catch Me, I'm In Love" in 2011.
"Okay naman. Prior to 'KimXi' naman, 'Kimerald' was first," Lim told ABS-CBN News, when asked for his comment on Chiu being paired anew with her fellow "Pinoy Big Brother" teen housemate.
"Noong nasa States pa lang ako, pinapanood ko na ang 'Kimerald' sa tambalan nilang 'My Girl.' So nakakatuwang nagbalik sila, and I can admit na naging fan naman ako eh," he added.
After her breakup with Anderson in 2010, Chiu was paired with Lim in the hit series "My Binondo Girl," which started the love team endearingly referred to by their fans as "KimXi."
They have since been rumored to be a couple even off-screen, with their respective families even approving of any brewing romance.
However, addressing the latest bouts of rumors saying he and Chiu are now officially together, Lim said: "We just let people say what they want to say and we let people think what they want to think. What they see is what they get."

Flood waters hit Xian Lim's house

MANILA, Philippines – Actor Xian Lim said his family’s house in Cainta, Rizal was also hit by floods caused by heavy rains over the past days.
“Baha hanggang dibdib ang tubig,” Lim said in an interview on ABS-CBN morning show “Kris TV” on Friday.
The actor said their house is still submerged in flood water.
“Bungalow kasi ang house so walang second floor. At least mayroong isang step at nandoon sa isang step ‘yung mga gamit. Pumasok ‘yung tubig at hanggang ngayon may tubig pa rin,” he said of the house, which his mother bought 30 years ago.
Despite being a flood victim himself, Lim still did his share in helping those who were hit by the disaster.
The actor said he and actress Kim Chiu, who is being romantically linked to him, bought and packed relief goods and distributed it to flood victims.
“Kami ang pumunta sa supermarket, dinala naming sa house niya, nag-pack [kami] one by one. Galing ni Kim kasi na-plan na niya ‘yung ganoon. Even the day after, mas bumili pa siya ng maraming supplies,” he said.

Kim Chiu refutes insinuation that Xian Lim is only riding her coattails

MANILA, Philippines – Kim Chiu is one of the most famous young actresses these days but being paired with her sometimes does not augur well for the partner.
Upcoming actor-singer Xian Lim knows this only too well as he has been accused of “using” Chiu to
further his career – a matter that he already dutifully parried in several interviews.
Good thing for him, Chiu is ever-ready to belie the malicious insinuation. In a recent interview with PEP, Chiu appealed for critics to leave Lim be, even as she insists that his success is through his own merits.
“Nagkataon lang talaga,” she said. “Baka ‘yun ang tinatawag nila na time niya ‘to shine,’ at ito na yung moment niya.”
Chiu reiterated that Lim wasn’t even supposed to be his leading man on “My Binondo Girl.”
"Si Jolo [Revilla] kasi, nagkasakit. Si Matteo [Guidicelli], nagkaroon ng problema. So, siya ang pinareha sa akin and nagustuhan naman ng tao," she explained.
Chiu is adamant that Lim is not one to use others in order to gain popularity.
“Love team kami. Nagtutulungan kami, yun lang ang masasabi ko,” she said.
On Lim romancing her off-camera, Chiu gave a non-committal answer.
"Hindi naman ako sigurado kung nililigawan niya nga ako. Mahilig siyang magbigay ng mga gifts, kung anu-anong mga surprises, [pero] wala pang, ‘I love you,’ and mas maganda yung ganun. Siyempre, 'di ba maganda yung magkaibigan muna kayo bago pupunta sa kung saan-saan."
Chiu admitted though that she and Lim hardly see each other nowadays.
“[Pero] Nagkaka-text-an pa rin naman kami. Nagkukumustahan," she said.
Here's good news for the duo’s hundreds of fans: Chiu is set to do a movie with Lim this year. As of the moment,
however, she is still busy shooting for “The Healing,” alongside veteran actress Vilma Santos.
"Kinabahan ako," she gushed, describing how it is working with The Star For All Seasons.
