Epson unveils touch-enabled projectors

MANILA -- PowerPoint presentations just got a whole lot easier after Epson Philippines unveiled the Bright Link EB-595Wi -- the world's first 3LCD touch-enabled interactive projector.

Targeted specifically at schools, colleges and universities, the company's newest flagship projector transforms any wall or flat surface into a touchscreen.

It allows customers to simply use their finger to swipe up and down, zoom in or out, write real-time annotations, and navigate a PC on the enlarged screen as if using a smartphone or tablet device.

The 595Wi, which is among the seven news models announced, also boasts brightness of up to 3300 lumens -- an amount considered to be clear enough for any classroom without the need to dim the lights.

It also has a lamp life of up to 10,000 hours on ECO mode, a white board mode, a 16W built-in speakers, and can support up to six points of touch at a time -- which means that both a teacher and student can write on the screen at the same time.

The new models are also equipped with the brand's latest, intuitive PC interactive software -- Easy Interactive Tools version 3.0 runs on the 3-chip LCD engines for brighter colors, and can be projected downwards.

In terms of connectivity, all the latest models includes two HDMI ports, one of which supports Android mobile devices.

It also supports wireless projection that allows a maximum of 50 devices to connect to the projector and simultaneously display four images on the screen.

As of writing, the suggested retail price of the projector stands at $2,399 (around P105,000) each.
