This as host Steve Harvey made a mistake in announcing the winner in this year’s pageant. It turned out that Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach, who was already satisfied with her first runner-up finish, was the real winner.
Despite the mix-up, Gutierrez said she is still happy with the results of the pageant.

“Everything happens for a reason so I’m happy,” she said in a video posted on the Miss Universe Facebook page, with the beauty queen wiping her left eye.
“I’m so happy. Thank you for all… Thank you for voting for me,” she added.
In a separate video posted on the Miss Universe Facebook page, Wurtzbach noted how she was crowned Miss Universe “in a very non-traditional” way.

“It’s a very non-traditional crowning moment… It was very 2015,” she said in the video, where she is seen with Miss Universe 2015 second runner-up, Miss USA.
Wurtzbach is the Philippines’ third Miss Universe winner, along with Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margie Moran in 1973.
