James shrugs off comments bashing sister Lauren

MANILA – James Reid is more than ecstatic for his half-sister Lauren now that she has finally ventured into the entertainment industry.

Speaking to ABS-CBN News on Wednesday, Reid said being in the spotlight is something that Lauren has learned to love through time.

“She deserves to be here. It’s something that’s growing on her. She didn’t believe in herself that she could do something like this, like me before,” he said.

Reid said he is looking forward to working with Lauren on an acting project.

“That would be fun. That would be really, really fun,” he said with a huge smile.

Meanwhile, Reid shrugged off negative comments about his sister, saying they are totally unaware that she is being bashed on social media.

Some netizens claimed Lauren was supposedly mean while she was with Reid and actress Nadine Lustre during their US and Canada tours.

“She’s well prepared. I told her everything she needs to know about showbiz. She just completely ignores it -- just like I do,” Reid said.

James Reid voted 2016 'sexiest man in PH'

MANILA – Actor James Reid was voted the “Sexiest Man in the Philippines” for 2016 in an online poll participated by thousands of fans, entertainment website Starmometer announced on Monday.

Reid, who is set to star in the upcoming ABS-CBN series “Till I Met You” with girlfriend Nadine Lustre, garnered a total of 490,311 votes.

VIRAL: James, Nadine in sweet dance rehearsal

MANILA – People who got to work with James Reid and Nadine Lustre days prior to their sold-out show probably already had an inkling that there was something more than just friendship between the two.

Viva Entertainment, which manages the showbiz careers of both Reid and Lustre, shared an exclusive video on Facebook showing the two while they were rehearsing for the “Jadine In Love” concert.

With smiles on their faces that can’t seem to be wiped off, the two Kapamilya stars looked every bit of a cute couple every time they looked straight into each other’s eyes.

The said video has since gone viral, earning close to 1,200,000 views in less than 24 hours.

The post has also been shared more than 10,000 times and has garnered more than 34,000 “likes.”

James Reid returns to Twitter after 8 months

MANILA - He's back. "On the Wings of Love" star James Reid, who recently signed an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN, had been on a long Twitter break until Friday, when he tweeted for the first since May last year.

For his first post, the 22-year-old Reid wrote: "Finally... I'm back on Twitter! Changing my username... But someone took wolf so... @JayeHanash it is."

Reid, who has nearly one million followers on the microblogging site, also posted a photo of him preparing for a photo shoot for one of his endorsements.

But despite being absent from Twitter, Reid has been active on Instagram, where he has more than 1.8 million followers. His return proved timely as "On the Wings of Love" nears its February 26 finale.

James Reid denies dating Julia Barretto

MANILA – James Reid finally broke his silence on rumors that he is currently seeing Julia Barretto after they were supposedly spotted having a coffee date recently.

In an interview with Cinema News, Reid stressed that he is not dating Barretto and they have never been on a coffee date.

“Go out? No, no. They said that we are in the coffee shop? No,” he said.

Reid and Barretto were co-stars in the movie “Para sa Hopeless Romantic.” Although they have already worked together, the actor said he does not even have Barretto’s number.

Meanwhile, Reid admitted he is sad that some supporters of his team-up with Nadine Lustre bashed him online when the rumor made the rounds.

“It’s just like, sometimes, when I’m looking at my Instagram and looking at the comments and stuff, sometimes it hurts knowing the bashers are the fans. They have the name ‘JaDine,’ and sometimes I don’t know the difference,” he said.

Nonetheless, the actor said he is grateful for his fans who defend him.

“They said I’m quiet about it. I don’t have to explain myself in everything that comes out because it’s not worth my time. I don’t really mind, but I’m just grateful to have fans, they defend me and don’t listen easily,” he said.

In an interview over the weekend, Lustre admitted that she also gets affected by rumors romantically linking Reid to Barretto.

"Apektado po ako dahil ka-trabaho ko po si James and siyempre hindi po maganda na siya ang tinitira ng bashers. Aminado naman po kami na we are not together, pero sana po hindi maapektuhan ang pagta-trabaho namin sa isa't isa," she said.

Lustre, however, explained that she has nothing against Barretto.

Daniel Padilla: No awkwardness with James Reid

MANILA - Teen star Daniel Padilla addressed issues pitting him against fellow actor James Reid, saying that there is no awkwardness between them.

Padilla and his love team partner, Kathryn Bernardo, are often compared by fans to Reid and his on-screen leading lady, Nadine Lustre.

"Wala, wala namang ilangan. Kapwa nating artista 'yan. Kaibigan natin 'yan," said Padilla on the sidelines of the press conference of his upcoming series with Bernardo, the remake of the hit soap "Pangako Sa 'Yo," which will debut on May 25.



Padilla went on to say that he considers Reid a friend, saying that they have worked together for Star Magic shows.

"Magkaibigan kami ni James. Talagang dati pa... magkaibigan na kami," he said.

In a previous interview, Reid said he hopes to have the opportunity work with Padilla and Bernardo, a highly popular love team in local show business.

James Reid denies dating Kim Chiu's sister

MANILA – Actor James Reid denied reports linking him to the sister of Kim Chiu.

Speculations about Reid’s ties with Chiu’s sister surfaced last month after gossip blog Fashion Pulis posted a screen capture of a Facebook post supposedly made by a certain Wendolyn Chiu.

In the post, the two supposedly exchanged several text messages and it was accompanied by the caption, unedited: “kilig much!!!! hahahaha”

Speaking to ABS-CBN News on the sidelines of ABS-CBN's Christmas variety show on Tuesday, Reid stressed that he and Chiu’s sister are just friends.

“Nothing [romantic]. We’ve met each other a couple of times outside. We know each other through common friends. I’m just being friendly,” he said.

Asked if he is courting Chiu’s sister, Reid said: “No. I’m not dating anyone. Right now, no [I’m not ready to enter into a relationship]. I’m so busy I don’t even have time for myself. Maybe next year.”

According to Reid, the speculations about him and Chiu’s sister probably just got “blown up” because she is the sister of a very popular actress.

“I guess it was just a misunderstanding. I haven’t seen her for the longest time. She’s a common friend with Andi [Eigenmann]. That’s how we met,” he said.

Meanwhile, Reid said he is looking forward to 2015 and he is hoping it will be as fruitful as the past year.

“I never expected to achieve this much this year. If I can even achieve half of what I’ve done this year, I’ll be happy,” he said.
