Emmanuelle Vera admits crush on Erik Santos

MANILA - Singer Emmanuelle Vera, one of the members of the group O Diva of the recently concluded celebrity competition "We Love OPM," admitted that she has a crush on one of the show's mentors Erik Santos.



In an interview on Monday, Vera can't help but giggle when asked about Santos. "Crush ko po siya, 'yun lang. Kaya po siguro tinutukso (ako ng ibang Star Magic artists)," she said.

Vera revealed that even after the show ended, she and Santos continue exchanging text messages as "friends."

Vera also said she's aware that Santos is being romantically linked to singer Angeline Quinto.

"Sabi po ni Erik, friends lang daw po sila, I take his word naman for it, pero hanggang hindi pa naki-clear ang isyu ay siguro distansiya po muna, friends lang muna," she said.

Asked if Santos is "boyfriend material," Vera replied, "Alam ko mabuti siyang anak, mabuting kapatid. So boyfriend material po talaga," she said.

MANILA - "The Voice of the Philippines" finalist Timothy Pavino is being billed as the next Erik Santos after his performance in the live shows of the second season of the singing competition.

Facing a packed Newport Performing Arts Theater at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay, the 24-year-old sang an emotional cover of his grandmother's favorite song, Basil Valdez's "Hanggang Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan."

It drew strong cheers from the crowd, as well as from coaches Sarah Geronimo and Lea Salonga. The former commented: "Sa tingin ko napaka-passionate mo sa iyong musika. Talagang it showed sa performance mo kanina."

"Para kang the next Erik Santos," she added.

For her part, Salonga, who is the mentor of Pavino, said that she couldn't help but fall in love with the performance.

"Oh my God," she said in a trembling voice. "Na-in love ako sa iyo. I will not be surprised kung maraming magsasabi after this show at salamat coach Lea, na-in love kami talaga sa kanya. Your lola is without a doubt super proud."

The results of the second round of live shows will be announced on Sunday, after "Rated K."

Should Pavino move on to the next round, he will join Monique Lualhati, Jason Fernandez, Daryl Ong, Suy Galvez, Rita Martinez, Kai Honasan, Nino Alejandro, and Leah Patricio.

Angeline Quinto jealous of K-La Rivera?

MANILA – Erik Santos revealed that his rumored girlfriend, singer Angeline Quinto, got jealous of K-La Rivera when he invited her to his birthday celebration last year.

The two female singers were both finalists on the ABS-CBN reality talent show “Star Power,” where Quinto emerged victorious. The show, which aired in 2010, was co-hosted by Santos along with Sharon Cuneta and Christian Bautista.

Speaking on “Kris TV” where both of them were guests on Tuesday, Santos shared that Quinto did not talk to him for days because of the incident.

“Grabe pala magtampo ‘to, one week. Kasi nag-party ako, in-invite ko 'yung mga close friends ko. Hindi siya naka-attend kasi may shooting yata siya or taping. In-invite ko lahat ng close friends ko. Meron akong na-invite na hindi niya type na nandoon,” he said.

Although he did not mention Rivera initially, host Kris Aquino urged Santos to reveal who he was referring to. He then confirmed that it was Rivera, with whom he reportedly had a crush on in the past.

Speaking in her defense, Quinto said: “Hindi naman po sa hindi type. Hindi ko naman kasi alam na nandoon.”

“May nag-send po sa akin ng picture nila. Sobra po [silang sweet]. Nung na-receive ko po ‘yung picture na ’yun, out of town ako. Sinend ko sa kanya ‘yung picture. Tapos sabi ko, ‘Ang sweet niyo naman.’ Medyo magkayakap na ng kaunti,” she recalled.

Asked how he wooed Quinto after she got jealous, Santos said: “Every day tinetext ko siya kahit hindi sumsagot, hindi ko siya tinitigilan. Pumunta kami sa US, hindi kami magkatabi sa bus.”

According to Quinto, it was only during Santos’ actual birthday when she decided to patch things up with the singer.

“Kasi nakunsensya din ako noon. So nung araw na birthday niya sa US, ako 'yung nagbigay ng cake sa kanya. Sinabihan ko 'yung mga kasama ko na, ‘Birthday na ni Erik ngayon sa Pilipinas, kantahan naman natin siya,’” she said.

Santos, for his part, shared that Quinto’s gesture brought him to tears. “Naiyak ako kasi pinansin na niya ako. Kasi ang hirap na one week kang hindi pinapansin.”

Erik Santos addresses gay rumors

MANILA, Philippines -- Erik Santos said he is past feeling offended by persistent rumors that he is gay.

The 30-year-old singer, in an interview on "Showbiz Inside Report" aired Saturday, said he has conceded that his critics are not likely to change their opinion of his sexuality.

"Noong una, siyempre [napipikon ako], pero ngayon, kung anuman 'yung ipakita mo sa kanila, hindi mo naman sila mapi-please," he said.

"Kung anuman 'yung paniniwalaan nila, 'yung pa rin naman 'yung pinaniniwalaan nila eh. Bahala na kayo sa buhay niyo," said Santos, who is celebrating his 10th anniversary as a professional singer.

To mark his decade-long career, the "ASAP" mainstay is releasing two albums -- "The Erik Santos Collection," a compilation of all the film and TV series theme songs he has performed, which is now out in stores; and a new all-original album.

Ten years since he emerged champion in the Kapamilya singing contest "Star in a Million," Santos has a clear vision of where he wants to take his career.

"[Singing is what I do best] and feeling ko 'yun ang strength ko," he said in an earlier interview. "Mag-offer nang mag-offer ng kanta, masaya o malungkot. Iyon ang direksyon ng career ko. 'Yun pa rin."

Erik Santos on MMK's first episode for 2013

MANILA, Philippines - Singer Erik Santos will star in the first episode of the ABS-CBN drama anthology "Maalaala Mo Kaya" for 2013.

This Saturday (January 5), Santos will play the role of Roque, a reserved type of man who seeks help from his younger brother Raul (Aaron Villaflor) to win the heart of his childhood crush Merlinda (Charee Pineda).

The episode serves as Santos' second acting project on "MMK".

"Magandang venue ito na magamit ko ang emosyon sa pag-arte," he said.

In the story, Cris Villanueva and Dominic Ochoa will play the roles of the old Roque and Raul, respectively.

Directed by Mae Czarina Cruz, the episode also includes Levi Ignacio, Deborah Sun, Efren Reyes, Pinky Marquez and Arjo Atayde.

"MMK" airs every Saturday after "Wansapanataym" on ABS-CBN.
