Lifelike Oblations on the run


Member of the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity stage the Oblation Run on Friday at the University of the Philippines Diliman campus. This year the run carried the theme "End wars, Not lives" as a commentary to the widespread killings and cancellation of peace talks with rebels.

VIRAL: Hunk doctor in QC makes netizens swoon


MANILA - A video of a man dubbed the "cutest doctor in town" has gone viral, making admirers scramble for information on the hunky ophthalmologist.

The 30-second clip shows the man, identified as Dr. Mark Agas, on a computer as a "patient" teases him about having fans. "Say hi naman sa fans mo, doc!" a voice is heard saying.

Less than a day after it was upload on April 19, the video has already garnered over 100,000 views on YouTube. It was also being shared on Facebook and Twitter, garnering hundreds of smitten comments from netizens.



According to the video's description, Agas has been a resident ophthalmologist at St. Luke's Medical Center since 2013. A graduate of University of the Philippines Diliman, he obtained his medical degree from University of Sto. Tomas in 2011, according to a Philippine Daily Inquirer report.

A talent of Mercator Model Management, Agas has appeared in a number of print ads and features, including a page in the 2014 edition of Cosmopolitan Philippines' popular "Bachelors" catalogue released annually.

Agas is also popular on social media, with over 4,500 followers on Twitter and some 33,000 on Instagram. Here are some of his photos, which have more than 1,000 "likes" each.

UP students to compete in L'Oreal Brandstorm in Paris


MANILA, Philippines - A group of students from University of the Philippines -Diliman will be heading to Paris to compete in the global marketing competition L'Oreal Brandstorm 2015.

Team Storm Surge from UP-Diliman emerged as the Brandstorm 2015 Philippine National Champion. The team includes UP Business Administration students Peter Avila, Mirella Galang and Caitlin Gregorio, and mentored by Professor Luis Diego Lee.

L’Oréal Brandstorm has been considered the ultimate global marketing competition in the beauty industry since 1992 having challenged the world’s top students to turn ideas into products or services. In its 23 years, over 80,000 students from all over the world have taken on business cases related to L’Oréal’s extensive portfolio of international brands such as Kiehl’s, The Body Shop, and Maybelline.

In the competition in the Philippines, the UP students went up against student teams from Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU), De La Salle University-Manila (DLSU-Manila) and University of Asia & the Pacific (UA&P).

The students took on a business challenge in travel retail. The case study involved creating a new, unforgettable retail experience for Lancôme in its travel retail shops, to attract both new and loyal consumers.

"The 2015 competition may be tougher but it has made it all the more exciting... I am excited to see where Brandstorm will take these young intelligent minds in the future and see how this international competition can help hone their business acumen," said Tina Ampil, L’Oréal Philippines General Manager for Human Resources.

The winning team will fly to Paris in June to represent the Philippines and compete against 45 other countries in the International Finals. They also received a cash prize of 1,000 Euros, and have the chance of landing a job at L’Oréal when spotted by executives at the International Finals.

"It is with great pride for me to say that among the key drivers of business growth in L’Oréal Philippines are young marketers who started as Brandstorm finalists," Rowel Vijandre, L’Oréal Philippines Managing Director, said.

“I have seen how this program has been pivotal in forming great young talents who will be the influential movers of the beauty business in the country in the future. We are a beauty company who believes in investing in potential and, for seven years, Brandstorm has been a true testament to that," he added.

UP Diliman grad tops interior design board exams


MANILA - The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced Wednesday that 164 out of 292 passed the Interior Design Licensure Examination given by the Board of Interior Design in Manila this October 2013.

The members of the Board of Interior Design are Sonia Santiago-Olivares, chairperson; Kathryn Milagrosa B. Abaño and Maria Carlota D. Hilvano, members.

The results were released in 13 working days after the last day of examination.

Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be on November 7 and 8, 2013.

Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 1 piece passport size picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2013-2016.

Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

The date and venue for the oathtaking ceremony of the new successful examinees in the said examination will be announced later.
