ABS-CBN News now has 8-M subscribers on YouTube

MANILA - ABS-CBN News' YouTube channel welcomed its eight-millionth subscriber in January as it became the top Philippine news publisher with most video views in the country.

Its videos garnered over 5.56 billion views since inauguration, the most views by any news publisher, which ranks it third among all channels based in the Philippines, according to analytics firm Social Blade.

In the previous month, ABS-CBN News stayed on top of stories such as the eruption of the Taal Volcano, the outbreak of a new strain of coronavirus, and the death of basketball great Kobe Bryant.

Last year, the news arm of the country's biggest broadcasting company launched its mobile application, where users receive prompts for live videos and news alerts. It also boosted its online presence with NXT, which presents informative videos on current events and relevant issues produced for the digital generation of Filipinos.

ABS-CBN News continues to inform over 18 million followers on Facebook and 6.6 million on Twitter. It is also connected to 1.8 million followers on Instagram.

Brooke Burke-Charvet has thyroid cancer

U.S. television personality Brooke Burke-Charvet announced Thursday she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

Burke-Charvet, 41, is co-host of "Dancing with the Stars" and is the mother of four children.

"I need to have thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy, which means I'm going to have a nice, big scar right here across my neck," she said on ModernMom's YouTube channel.

"I'm just going to make a positive out of this negative thing," she said. "I'm going to be a really good patient, and I'm going to do everything that I need to do. I've booked my surgery. ... I'm good. I'm ready to deal with it, and I'm going to be fine. I feel really, really strong. Doctors say this is a 'good' kind of cancer to have. ... My doctor did tell me this is a 'happily ever after' ending kind of thing."
