South Korean YouTube sensation follows Adele's footsteps

An 18-year-old South Korean music student is making waves online following her cover of Adele’s latest hit song “Hello.”

The latest YouTube sensation, Lydia Lee, uploaded on YouTube her rendition of Hello and after three weeks gained 14 million views and counting.

Lee was also invited to perform at the "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

ABS-CBN launches YouTube network for 'online sensations'

MANILA - Do you want to be the next YouTube sensation?

ABS-CBN has launched a multi-channel network on the video-sharing site to boost its online content and build a roster of individuals sharing exclusive content.

The multi-channel network, called "Chicken Pork Adobo," currently has 90 creators whose channels on YouTube tackle a variety of topics such as toys, fashion, comedy, music, lifestyle, vlogs, entertainment, arts and crafts, food, parenting, and inspirational.

"'Chicken Pork Adobo' is the platform where we empower creators who may not have a chance to go on TV. 'Chicken Pork Adobo' democratizes it for everyone by harnessing and gathering all of them, and for them to leverage on each others' strengths. We want to showcase the Filipino talent to the world, not only to Filipino audiences," said Donald Lim, head of ABS-CBN Digital Media Division.

ABS-CBN said the initiative aims to help online creators make a mark in the digital space and help them become superstars "in whatever way or form."

"They have different niches, personalities, and material that won't make it on TV, but on YouTube they are popular, spectacular, fascinating, and have their own following," Lim said.

Several Kapamilya stars are among those featured in the YouTube network, including Melissa Ricks and Eric 'Eruption' Tai of 'It's "Showtime."

What was Michelle's last message to Jamich partner

MANILA --The family of Jam Sebastian, one-half of the YouTube sensation Jamich, has decided to let go of the 28-year-old who has been battling lung cancer since early last year.

Sebastian's fiancee and the other half of Jamich, Michelle Liggayu, confirmed early on Wednesday that the family has decided to no longer prolong Sebastian's suffering.

"Nakapag-decide na ang family. Hinihintay na lang maubos 'yung gamot ni Jam. Hindi ko kayang tingnan ngayon 'yung ginagawa sa kanya. Na inaayos na siya. Ang sakit marinig na napag-uusapan na kung anong susuotin niya. Sabay-sabay tayong mag-pray for Jam na makaramdam na siya ng love and comfort sa arms ni God. 'Pag pray din natin na maging strong tayong lahat. Everything will be okay," Liggayu said.

"We love you, Jam Fernando Sebastian. I'm sure magiging sobrang ganda and happy ng birthday celebration mo sa Heaven. Sana ma-dream kita na ipaalam mo lang samin na masaya ka na and healthy ulit with God. Thank you for everything... No words can explain. Until we meet again..."

Sebastian died at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Liggayu and Sebastian had plans of getting married. The two were engaged in May last year.

Jamich's Jam Sebastian dies at 28

MANILA - Jam Sebastian, one-half of the popular YouTube sensation Jamich, died on Wednesday morning, months after he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He was 28.

The news was confirmed by her mother Maricar on Facebook.

Mrs. Sebastian said her son died at 10:30 a.m.


His Jamich partner Michelle Liggayu also expressed her sadness over the passing of her fiance.

Last week, Sebastian was placed on life support and was visited by TV host and actress Kris Aquino.

Aside from Aquino, other well-known personalities who have visited Sebastian in the hospital in the past weeks include "Bandila" anchor Karen Davila, inspirational speaker Bo Sanchez and "It's Showtime" hosts Jhong Hilario and Vice Ganda.

Sebastian and Liggayu got engaged early last year. The two rose to online fame for their videos about love and relationships, with their YouTube channel boasting of over 100 million views.

Jam Sebastian of Jamich shares Christmas wish

MANILA -- Jam Sebastian, one half of the popular YouTube tandem Jamich, is wishing for his full recovery from cancer this Christmas.

Sebastian, who is engaged to his Jamich partner Paolinne Michelle Liggayu, revealed that he is battling cancer early this year.

Despite this, Sebastian tries to remain optimistic as he continues his chemotherapy in the new year.

Topless Petra Mahalimuyak on FHM cover

MANILA - Showbiz newcomer Ashley Rivera, who gained online popularity for her YouTube persona Petra Mahalimuyak, is the cover girl of FHM for its April 2014 issue.


The cover, which was unveiled Friday on FHM's official website, shows Rivera nearly naked, wearing only a bikini bottom and with toy guns covering her breasts.

For the shoot, Rivera was photographed by Xander Angeles.

Rivera became a YouTube sensation in 2011 for her comedic tutorial videos as Petra Mahalimuyak, whose spoken English is characterized by a thick Filipino accent, notably with "How to Dance In A Club" and "My British Accent" getting millions of views.

At the time, Rivera was based in Las Vegas.





In March 2012, she was offered a contract by Viva Artists Agency, and has since transferred to the Philippines to pursue acting. She recently appeared in the romance-drama film "A Secret Affair," which starred Anne Curtis and Andi Eigenmann.

"People might react to this shoot and say, 'Now you’re posing for FHM?' But I was really ready for this," Rivera was quoted as saying on FHM's website. "I want people to know that I can be more than just Petra. I can do films, shows, and shoots.

"I want them to see that I can be a kontrabida, a mermaid, or whatever. Just expect more of me. I've been praying and I think I deserve a break," she said.

Charice explains change of style, music

MANILA, Philippines - Reacting to comments made by both her fans and critics, singer Charice explained why she took her sound down a different path.

On Friday's episode of the ABS-CBN morning talk show "Kris TV", Charice said she wants to avoid losing her voice, which she said may happen if she continues to be a "belter."

"Kasi sometimes siyempre 'yung sobrang birit, ayaw ko pong makarating sa time na mawala na yung boses ko," said the singer, who became a YouTube sensation for hitting high and low notes with ease.

"As a musician, mayroon po talaga akong gusto, yung partikular na genre para sa akin. Gusto ko lang yung R&B na parang smooth lang. Like yung kanina, even if I sing Tagalog songs, mas gusto ko na ma-feel ng tao kaysa sa marinig nila 'yung tinis ko," she added.

"Kris TV" host Kris Aquino, for her part, noted that Charice's preferences in music and fashion have changed because it is part of her "natural evolution in growing up."

Initially known for her long black locks, Charice now has blonde hair and tattoos.

In an interview on "The Buzz" last Sunday, Charice maintained that she is the same person that Filipinos used to know despite her new look.

“I think ‘yung pinakamasakit ‘yung dyina-judge ako ng mga tao na hindi naman ako kilala. Pati ‘yung mga tao na kilala na nga ako, dyina-judge pa ako. Kasi para po sa akin, parang ‘hoy, kilala niyo naman ako eh, hindi naman porket nagpalit ako ng buhok, ‘di naman porket may tattoo ako sa katawan ko eh iba na ako. ‘Di naman ganoon ‘yun,” she explained during the interview.

Charice held a successful concert in Hawaii last month.
