Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher fundraiser for Ukraine refugees tops $6.8M

Hollywood couple Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have raised over $6.8 million as of Friday, a day after setting up a GoFundMe page seeking humanitarian aid for Ukrainian refugees.

Kunis, who was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine in 1983, moved to the United States in 1991.

"I have always considered myself an American, a proud American... But today, I have never been more proud to be a Ukrainian," Kunis said in an embedded video.

"The events that have unfolded in Ukraine are devastating. There is no place in this world for this kind of unjust attack on humanity."

Kutcher, sitting by Kunis' side in the video, said the funds would be used to provide refugee and humanitarian aid to Ukrainians affected by Russia's invasion of the neighboring country.

"The principle challenge right now is logistics. We need to get housing and we need to get supplies and resources into the area," said Kutcher. "And I have never been more proud to be married to a Ukrainian."

The two actors, who married in 2015, have agreed to match up to $3 million of donations, with the ultimate goal of raising $30 million. They are partnering with short-term housing website Airbnb.org and Flexport.org, which organizes shipments of humanitarian aid to refugees.

Ashton Kutcher designs tablet for Lenovo

MANILA — Lenovo Philippines has officially launched the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro, which was designed by actor Ashton Kutcher, who joined the global tech giant as a product engineer a year ago.

The Kutcher-designed gadget has a superior resolution (2560 x 1440), long-life 9600-mAh battery and built-in Pico projector, making it "the ultimate home entertainment tablet" to add to anyone's wish list. The 8-watt JBL sound system with subwoofer also provides an immersive sound experience.

"Our vision for the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro was to create the best tablet on the market," Kutcher was quoted in an earlier Lenovo statement.

"To do that, we really looked at how people use tablets and what they needed for a better experience. The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro has got the best sound, a dramatically brilliant camera and display, a new mode, a projector and top processor, so I think we created the best tablet available. I can't wait for people to try it," the actor said.

The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro was among the new models of the popular Yoga series launched by the company last Friday at the Bonifacio Global City.

Lenovo also rolled out the Lenovo 50 that aims to give the company a broader reach of the computing market.

“Lenovo’s new Yoga line-up features thin designs and robust processors with four modes for amazing portability and performance when playing and working with digital content. Equipped with unparalleled audio capabilities and long battery life, the new Yoga multi-modes, as well as the new Lenovo Y50 being launched today reflect Lenovo’s commitment to innovation, paving a new way for doers to accomplish more in today’s mobile-focused digital era,” Michael Ngan, country general manager of Lenovo Philippines, said in his welcome remarks during the launch.

According to Samantha Baretto, product manager of Lenovo Philippines, the Yoga Tablet 2 allows users to use the three original modes — hold, tilt and stand ─ as well as a new mode, hang, which is also available on the Kutcher-designed tablet.

The fourth mode allows a user to "hang" the Yoga when viewing the content, allowing a user to allow them to perform their other tasks.

Furthermore, she said the Yoga 2 is more powerful with an Intel Atom processor, Dolby audio and Wolfson Master Hi-Fi. For better listening and photo shooting, it has dual front speakers and an 8 megapixel rear camera.

Meanwhile, Baretto said the new Yoga 3 Pro raises the bar in mobile computing as far as mobility and lightness are concerned. It is thinner by 17 percent as compared to the Yoga 2 Pro, 14 percent slimmer than its predecessor at just 12.8 mm and it weighs 1.19 kg. With a new watchband hinge made from 800 pieces of steel and aluminum, the Yoga 3 Pro is as flexible as a metallic watch band, with six focus points instead of two.

Complementing the distinctive new hinge design, the Yoga 3 Pro is available in two eye-catching colors: Platinum Silver or Champagne Gold.

Laptop for gamers

For his part, Lenovo 4P manager of consumer PCs Vinson Chua said gamers will enjoy the Lenovo Y50 laptop for its advanced technology, which includes an optional backlit keyboard, and NVIDIA GeForce, for enhanced graphics.

Powered by an up to 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, Windows 8.1, and HDD, users can easily multitask among activities such as watching videos, opening apps, posting to social media and browsing photos.

Chua also noted that the powerful combination of JBL speakers and Dolby Home Theatre v4 helps to redefine the multimedia experience with its crisp and resonant sound.

The Yoga Tablet 2 Androids will be priced at P13,999 (wifi) and P19,999 (LTE wifi) for the eight-in and 10-in variants respectively, while SRPs for the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro and Yoga 3 Pro are at P33,999 and P76,995 respectively. The new Yoga multi-modes will all be available within the month.

Mila Kunis Engaged to Ashton Kutcher

They started off as costars on That '70s Show, and now Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are set to become husband and wife – they're engaged, a source confirms to PEOPLE.

Following widespread speculation that the actors could soon walk down the aisle, Kunis, 30, stepped out with a diamond sparkler on her ring finger while shopping with her mother on Thursday.

"Ashton and Mila have talked about getting married for quite a while," a business source close to Kutcher told PEOPLE in December. Adds another Kutcher pal: "They're incredibly happy together."

Kutcher, 36, and Kunis were first rumored to be dating in April 2012, and from then on, the former costars appeared to be inseparable, enjoying some well-documented PDA and lavish vacations together.

"Ashton loves to travel and so does Mila, so they have seen a lot of new places and both are charged at the idea of doing it more, even living part-time abroad," an insider says. "They seem to have a lot in common, and that helps keep a relationship strong."

It's not the first time the couple has prepared for a wedding: In December the couple attended the marriage of Kunis's brother Michael in St. Petersburg, Fla. Later that month, the two traveled to Kutcher's home state of Iowa to spend time with his family for the holidays, then celebrated his own brother's nuptials earlier this month.

The engagement news comes after it was revealed in November that Kutcher's divorce from Demi Moore had been finalized, nearly two years after the ex-couple separated.

Last year, Moore sought spousal support and legal fees from Kutcher, as the two were reportedly at odds over how to split up their estimated fortune of more than $300 million.

Back in July, another source told PEOPLE that Kutcher was "set on proposing [to Mila]" and added that the actor "really wants to marry her and is so annoyed that there [was] still the hold-up with the divorce" from Moore.

E! Online was first to report the news. Reps for the actors have not responded.

Review: Unloving, uninvolving 'Jobs'

"Jobs" is a partial life story of iconic founder of Apple Steve Jobs, how he founded his company, lost it and got it back. In between, we see what an arrogant anti-social guy Jobs actually was. This was a far cry from the Steve Jobs who was so lovingly adulated after his recent death.

I do not know if it was because Steve Jobs, the man, is not exactly a good movie biopic subject, or was it Ashton Kutcher's fault for not being able to bring the man out? Yes, Ashton had his distinctive walk, stance and mannerisms down pat, so maybe the way it was written was the problem. Everything just felt so shallow. Even made-for-TV films (which this one felt like) could have told this story better.

One glaring instance of poor storytelling was the side story about his daughter Lisa. When he first found out that his girlfriend was pregnant, he did not acknowledge paternity. But somewhere in the second half, Lisa was a teenager living in his house! So what happened in between?

In contrast, the character of Steve Wozniak, Jobs' technical genius partner, was very vividly portrayed by Josh Gad. Woz was a well- developed character in his own little arc even if he was not the central character.

It was good to see former lead stars Dermot Mulroney and Matthew Modine on the big screen again, though the characters they played were dry corporate types, no big emotion nor action in their acting. But they were still able to deliver well enough in their unsavory roles nevertheless.

They assumed a lot that the audience already know about the difference between Apple 1, Apple 2 and Mackintosh, such that these were not explained clearer. I am sure the younger audiences were waiting for the iPhone, the iPad or Steve's fight with cancer to be shown, but alas, these recent developments were not even mentioned.

The movie is so dry and uninvolving. I did not get drawn to be interested to know more about him. The episodes of his life jump around so much without logical continuity. The supposedly inspirational ending came out of nowhere, not having anything to do with the ongoing story at that point. It completely had no impact, which was a pity. 3/10
